Rear swayer needed??

I just noticed that one of my rear swayer links has become disconnected . I never noticed a ride difference until I reconnected it then the ride actually got worse as it causes the rear tries not to articulate. Just wondering if it can be left disconnected especially when off road? Anyone do it?

Most leave the rears connected when off-roading.
