I have the spray in bed liner and it says that we should use a M6x1.00mm tap through the pre drilled holes.

Did anyone have to do this for their rail install, regardless of rebel off road rails or mopar or another brand? Kind of a pain in the ass given I didn’t have one on hand and tried to do it without the tap and the screws wouldn’t go in.

I’m already a bit aggravated that I stripped some bolts for the hinge steps so I’m just going to paint them and chalk up the steps as a loss. Then dealing with this is adding to the frustration.

Yes, this is very common if you have bedliner. Those holes get gunked and are great at stripping screws. Amazon is your friend on this one

I got a dewalt set from Home Depot (which f me, was like $50). I never used this thing before. Do i just put the bit in the turner thing and twist it through?

Yep, that's basically it, some like to hit it with wd40 or light oil but for this is not really needed

Yes, if you feel resistance, turn it in a half turn, then back out a quarter turn, then back in a half turn, then out a bit.

You get my point. Work it in and out and use some basic oil and you will be fine. I'd suggest something thicker than WD40. Motor oil will work great. If you dont' have any motor oil, take a few drops off the dip stick.
