Redarc BCDC - Does '22 JTR Ecodiesel have a smart alternator?

Looking at putting together an Aux battery system in the bed to power my fridge. Looking at the Redarc BCDC product line, does anyone know if the '22 JTR ecodiesel has a smart alternator?

These are controlled or managed by the PCM. I guess that's what makes an ordinary alternator smart.
The PCM manages the alternator's field and charging rates based on info it gathers from the engine, transmission and the IBS.
So they get called "smart alternators" and for the life of me, what fool came up with that term?
These are as simple as those of the 1960s but I guess we have to go by what non-technical people decided to call them.

Smart alternators are essentially those that have their output voltage controlled externally via the Engine Control Unit (ECU) rather than by an internal or external fixed voltage regulator.
To know - just watch the volt meter in your truck. If the voltage varies while you drive it and as you drive it, then it is.

Sort of like "wifi" - nothing to do with fidelity at all.

Anywho - if you like your batteries, don't mess with the charging system. AGM batteries have very specific charging needs and messing with the charging system can shorten battery life, cause them to get hot, etc.
Use the REDARC BCDC charger for your added battery.
