The factory as well as many "plug and play" options have a built in timer of 15 minutes. While this is a grea thing to not run your vehicle dry when cooling it down or warming it up . The issue comes, especially, when you have a service animal and another dog that pretty much travel everywhere with you. 15 minutes most of the times is not enough unless your running in to pay for something and back out. I need something that will stay started until I tell it otherwise. Like some type of override. I know you can restart the factory system but I believe if I read it correctly that it has a maximum of 2 run times per session ie 30 minutes total cutting off in between at 15minutes then you can restart it. So I am left with these questions:

is there a way to code the system to do differently?
is there a way to overide, say like with a module?

I dont want to have to leave a key in the vehicle and have to have two keys with me where ever I go. The other issue is that my hunting dog a catahoula is so freaking smart she knows how to unlock and roll down windows, etc.. I know with a remote start these things are not powered. A definite bonus with remote start. Another bonus is the ability to run the factory system off of the App.

I would rather not have to use a aftermarket system for a variety of reasons. One is although I was a certified 12v installer at one point in my life. I would rather keep all factory wiring unadulterated. Every plug and play system I have seen have timers in line with factory system, havent seen any bypass for them, and cant use with the factory app, etc.

Thanks in advance.. Trying to find a good solution here. We are going on a hella of a long trip doing a good portion of the PanAmerican Hwy and want a solution we can have done before we do our smaller test trips. That we will be testing out the layouts of the setup and all the systems before undertaking the trip..

Unfortunately there is no way around it. I asked the guys at Z Automotive (Tazer) if they could do a work around and their reply was no.

Too bad these things cannot be coded like the German Vehicles.. I'm sure there is a way to do this. It just may not be enough people wanting the issue resolved to be enough of a investment into the solution. GIven that aftermarket systems are not that expensive overall and probaby cheaper in the end than the solution along with the factory remote start.

You do not leave a key in it. Take the FOB with you and leave the truck running. If you leave a key in it, you cannot lock it and walk away.

For some reason that didn’t cross my mind even though I knows it true. Haha musta been really tired when I was posting that. So I guess I’ll need a way to monitor the vehicle then.
