I'm hoping someone can help. I have been having a huge issue with the horn sounding when I arm and disarm the alarm. The settings on the dash say not to honk. I've been to the dealership twice, multiple techs have looked at it, played with the settings, and they are confused why it continues to honk. I am not going to disable my horns but my wife is, rightfully so, bugging me to figured it out since I leave at 4:30am. I'm digging under the dash and I find the DR-100 GPS device. Cut the ziptie, unplug it, and the horns no longer sound off with the alarm! I think I solved this issue but I want to verify it will start without it plugged in. It doesn't.... It will go through all the motions but it will not even crank over. I plug it back in and the horns activates with the setting of the alarm again but it does start. I'm assuming this plug goes into another factory plug but I can't find it. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks for your help.

Update - I contacted Karr and they are sending a tech on Tuesday to remove it. No charge. I'll post the results.

It's fixed!!!! The tech removed the box and the wiring harness. There were a handful of lines T tapped into the stock harness. He had to reconnect the starter wire to the stock harness as well.

No more honking when I unlock it lock the doors. So stoked.

Here is what I just pulled from my wife's MY26 JLUR X:

They had tapped into 5 or 6 OE wiring harness wires. I should have taken pictures before I started disconnecting stuff. I only had to cut the one blue wire that ran over to the passenger side front kick panel. JLUR was in the garage and I had disconnected the batteries while I was doing this. Couldn't open the passenger door wide enough (shelves in the way) in order to contort myself around enough to disconnect that one spade terminal. All the other taps were under the steering column and drivers kick panel.

These dealers are horrible. Tapping into the main harness? I’d ask them to replace any piece of the harness they tapped. Punks.

Nah. Given how easy these vehicles are to steal, by either key fob cloning or CAN bus message injection, it just seems like a prudent loss prevention measure on their part.

The last thing they did before I drove it off the lot was to deactivate the tracker. I didn't trust that if that stuff failed in any way that it would "fail safe", that is not disable the vehicle. Plus I want to install the GMRS radio in the space that the big black box was zip tied into.

I'm sure I paid for the cost of the tracker and the labor in the price of the vehicle, but if it kept their costs down, lower theft losses, lower insurance premiums, then I benefitted from it too by them selling it at a price I was happy with.

Another delearship included the tracker they install as a line item in the list of non-optional $2,700 dealer installed "vehicle enhancements". Did not by from them.

Our 22 JTR didn't have anything like this when we bought it new, but that was from a dealership 3 hours away from Phoenix.

I get all that. It’s the tapping of a wiring harness that lisses me off. At least do an install that doesn’t cut into the factory harness.
