Removing gloss from steering wheel trim?

What are some options to down glare the shiny steel steering wheel trim?

anyone paint or buff out? Links to good over lays? Bitch to swap out with Mopar black one from JL? Thsnks.

Steel wool maybe? Light grit sandpaper? I’ve seen overlays on EBay but they look cheap.

Do all trim levels have the full bling treatment?



Some of the Sport models appear to have only the center ring in the metal look finish.
It's annoying on a sunny day and driving South.

I'm not sure I would paint them in the vehicle like this, but someone did.
On the broader thread the OP removed the pieces and painted them.
