OP, i have the clayton 3.5” overland plus kit and 37x12.50x17 toyo mt’s. My jeep has also been trussed, gusseted, geared, track bared and had entire steering replaced with 2.5 ton hardware. I’ve got a build thread if you wanted more info on that stuff.
judging by that TJ on thornbirds i’d say you are no stranger to the fact that tire choice is going to impact your ride quality at least as much as shocks. I’d watch tire choice. That said, i love the look and performance of a more aggressive tire so i can deal with the noise. If you go 3.5 inch with clayton, a front driveshaft is a must.
you are going to have more nhv from the jeep than the raptor but its apples to oranges. Raptor has all terrains. Super soft shocks and independent front suspension. Those things will lend to a cadillac ride. That said, a JT, especially a lifted one, has different assets, like the benefit of a solid front axle for the really hard stuff.
My JT is also my family car. We love it. It rides smooth and pretty soft for what it is. The only thing that you feel is the occasional unsettling of the front axle on expansion joints or rough pavement at speed but its far better than anything you remember with your TJ.
if you need a truck first and offroader second, the raptor may have an edge. But if you want a little smaller footprint and something that can get you way out there, the gladiator probably a better trail boss.
And in case you wanted to know the difference in height/clearance between stock mojave, stock rubicon, and a rubicon set up with +/- 4 inches of lift and 37’s, here’s what you’d be looking at (see pic, mojave on the left)
Also, for the cost of mine all in considering pro installation, you are in new raptor territory anyway so money is a push.
