So......I am about to hit 19000 miles on Black Sunshine and in a few days will be putting on my 4th set of tires. The first two changes are justified (in my mind) but it is excessive to keep changing them. My tire progression was as follows. Stock 33" Falken AT apx 3300 miles on them (sold with stock Rubicon wheels $800), Hankook 35" Dynapro M/T apx 5000 miles (sold for $400 locally in Charleston area), 37" Maxxis Trepador Radials installed at apx 8300 miles. They look great, they are awesome off-road but they suck for longevity. Besides occasional wheeling, 100% of my driving is local stop and go around town. Almost no highway driving at all. That's what my wife's SUV is for :like:. After less than 11000 miles the Trepador radials are more than half worn and are feathering badly. I am totally disappointed. I could probably deal with them for another 5000 miles but they just keep getting louder as the feathering gets worse. After many phone calls and scouring the internet machine to find a replacement set. Discount Tire Direct restocked their AZ facility so I pulled the trigger on some new shoes. Arriving soon are some 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I wanted something that would make less noise and still be good in our wonderful South Carolina sandy mud. Hopefully these will fit the bill. My wife is starting to think I am ruining my tires on purpose just so I can keep changing them :surprised:. Anyway, I know nobody really cares about this at all but I am trying to avoid doing some work this morning......

@BuckSawLilandtheGoose,

Woe that is a lot of changing for the mileage. We get a lot of solid feedback from people running the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I would say you will be a good test pilot. Good luck with them and thank you for your support.

hey I sold my 33 falcon A/Ts after one year and now I am selling my 35 trail grapplers after another year and putting 37s on. I can tell you already I will be selling those in a year to put 40s on

haha, you aren't alone. My wife was the catalyst to me getting different tires. I've got 17500 on my rig in a year and a half. Factory radials, 33 BFG(cause I got a killer deal), 35 Yoko MT, and now 37 Yoko MT(again a good deal because my used 35s were worth almost as much as I bought them for last year)

Also, I should mention that I ran Treps a few Jeeps ago and they're AMAZING Offroad, but extremely loud on road. Great tire though if you can have a dedicated Offroad rig.

You all have reminded m that if I want to try 35s on my Gladiator once I get it, I should check the local Craigs list. Ha.

Totally agree. Much better off the road than on. Plus I love that they look like big meat grinders.
