Who has em? What do you think of em? This isn’t going to be my end all shock but it should work for me for the next couple years until I’m out of warranty and ready to go crazy with cutting and welding a new suspension on. Things that attracted me to them are the reservoir and the internal valving that self adjusts. Plus a 3 year warranty if I destroy them. I don’t really need anything fancy until I do the full lift but I have got to get away from the Mopar/Fox things that are on there now. I’ve tried to just live with it until I was ready for the full kit but “I’ve given er all I got Cap’n! I can’t giver nuh mur!!!”

Take a look at Progressive shocks. Very interesting design, I saw them at the Off-Road Expo in Pomona, they had a cutaway display that showed how the floating O-ring blocks some of the ports when the shock experiences high speed movement, thus firming the suspension when you need it. We put a set on my son-in-laws JKUR, pretty nice.

Those look cool. The techy specs are right in there but doesn’t really give a lot of info as far as lift height and all that jazz. Trying to walk a fine line between “I want to go do some crazy wheeling” and “I’m not ready to go all in on my suspension just yet.” Rough Country ones I’m looking at fit that bill as not spending crazy amount on shocks I know I’m going to change out in a year or 2 and are covered by a warranty for that entire time. That’s a good find though. I wasn’t familiar with that company.

Those are interesting for sure. I really wish they put full collapsed and extended lengths on their website though. Good find!

I believe you have the Mopar/Fox lift shocks and not the standard height Rubicon/Fox shocks?
What don't you like about them?

The M1 resi shocks are digressive, that turned me off. I want progressive, but I've never ran a digressive, so maybe I just don't know.

Correct I do have the Mopar Fox shocks. They aren’t bad on the road really. Stability is good. Bumps aren’t too bad as long as it’s a 1 hit wonder. I sometimes feel more “spring” than I’d like. Where I have issues is off-road. I don’t know if they’re just tired or it’s a different model type than what I had on my last Jeep but they don’t seem to be able to keep up on even basic off road tracks. I haven’t bombed this Jeep through the desert because it’s not set up to do that. Yet. Just basic trails and wandering with a few washboard washes out in Anza Borrego. The shocks were on the Jeep when I bought it and I haven’t been able to run down the maintenance or build records to know what mileage that was at.

As far as the digressive vs progressive issue I prefer to have a little more stiffness at slow crawl and the softer stuff at speed. I focus my efforts more towards the off-road trail stuff. Most off road vehicles can be driven on the road. Most road vehicles can’t be taken out on a trail. When in technical terrain I’m a slow and deliberate wheeler. Pick a line that should work with my gear setup and crawl it. A harder shock rate isn’t going to affect me as much because it will be a slower hit. I’ll speed it up in the open sections where there aren’t as many obstacles so there’s more hits and dips and dives in succession. That’s where I want the slightly softer shock performance to soak up those hits and keep my teeth in my skull where they’re supposed to be. Just my thought process on it. I’ve never done any desert racing so I may be totally off on all this. My fast and furious stuff was all road based.

Just give them a call, they were very helpful with me.
