Can this kit support the existing Rubicon shocks or do I really need to upgrade?
Upgrading to shocks that are designed for the specific amount of lift you are adding to the vehicle is highly recommended and truthfully the only real right way to go when it comes to installing a lift kit. The stock height shocks will not have the correct amount of shock travel, and will not be valved correctly for the additional weight and height, therefore causing all sorts of suspension issues for you. Shock extensions are an option, but are still not the best way to go.

What backspacing and offset would be appropriate to have for a 35" tire? I want no rub in full lock.

We recommend a backspacing of 4.5 to 4.75 with any of our kits, Rubicon models can get a little bit closer to 5", but anything more than that would creat some rubbing issues.
