Rugged Ridge HD winch gap

Has anyone with the RR HD front bumper come up with a solution to cover the gap where the winch would be? Obviously, the easiest solution would be to install a winch, but I'm not interested in going that route right now. I've seen people that have designed and cut a piece of metal to cover the gap in other bumpers. That's probably what I would prefer, but it seems like a tricky design. Has anybody already tackled this problem?

Years ago, on another vehicle, I had a winch bumper but couldn’t afford a winch. I bolted on a 50 cal ammo box to carry a strap and shackles.
