The Starlink RV setup is really your best choice for now.

Before we got fiber last summer I had us on a Mofi Router with a $57/month Verizon SIM that I bought on Ebay from some guy who sells them on grandfathered unlimited data plans.
I installed an external directional antenna (Proxicast) and used Google Earth to aim it at the tower some miles away.

It's a little tricky for Verizon, but pretty much plug n play for an ATT account.
If it's Verizon you have to go into the router and tweak a few things. Nothing really difficult. Just slightly tedious.

Off-peak we'd get 50/50
On-peak it could drop as low as 12/20. The uploads generally would be as high or higher than the downloads, because the tower is synchronous, and most users are of course downloading.

The seller gives you all of the information you need on setting up the router and the Prepaid account.
It worked pretty good for us for several years before rural fiber got to us.

Thank you for this info and the links. I did read a few reviews on Starlink roam. I have spoke with one other person about it and he advised for me to wait.

Now I have a cell booster, but it really only brings the cell signal under the steel roof. My closest cell tower aimed at my direction is 18 miles away. I get 1 bar most of the time. I'm restricted to smoke signals basically.

I will look at the starlink roam a lot closer. Thank you!
I recently installed Starlink mobility with priority data on my JT. I consistently get well over 200mbps down and in the 40’s up when sitting still. I get over 100 when driving at interstate speeds. I even used it successfully while driving a heavily wooded trail over the weekend. Using Wi-Fi calling, it’s like being near a cell tower. Perfect reception with no drops. Game changer.

I tried to order that but it still says that it is not available in my area. $2500 + $250 per month? Still on track for a 2023 I guess. I have my tower, but it has been too wet to put up. Ground water will quickly fill up the hole when I start digging. Thanks for the reply. At least I know it will work. When and if I can get the home system or the mobile system, I can put it on the RV. RV shopping now.

Yes, $2,500 for hardware and $250 per month, but you can pause service anytime. Both my wife and I are small business owners, and are the only employees. For us, being able to respond to clients no matter where we are is huge. The cost of Starlink is way less than paying for others to cover us while we’re out of touch. I plan to pause service probably during the winter months when we don’t camp.

Star link is the plan at the moment. I thought that ordering the mobile system they wouldn't care about my address. I'm thinking they just don't want more users in my area yet.

Mobile starlink and business are the same price. I may have tried the business. I will attempt today to see if I can get the mobile starlink. This morning it asked for a shipping address instead of check for service in my area.
My wife needs it for Zoom meetings and such. Having it on an RV will give her more freedom. Thanks for getting me to look at this again. I was traveling the last month. It kind of go pushed back.

Any time. We did a dozen short meetings camping last weekend. Zero issues. It is as as if we were in the office, minus the wind. :) the difference between business and mobility was I believe a static IP. Since I have no reason for that with netscalers at my data center, I didn’t care. I wanted the usage while moving. I’m planning to add a second wedge mount for the trailer so I can leave with the Jeep if my wife needs access at camp. That way I can quickly move it with two Allen bolt removals.

When stationary, I’m powering it with a goal zero 1500 and portable 200w solar, so all of that is easily moved from the Jeep to the trailer. When I’m moving, all the hardware is easily powered directly from the Jeep’s small 400w inverter.

I am still downloading the Starlink App on my tablet ( non- cellular). Trying to use the phone is not working. The app is obviously designed for a pc or a tablet. Business route is still looking for availability. I'm still looking at the Mobility option as my solution. When the app finishes downloading I will know more.

Interesting. I only have the app on my iPhone, and it was seamless.

Android! It fills my screen with a half page that I can't move to see the other half.

Okay, app displays a full page on the tablet. The half that I wasn't seeing was stating service is immediately available. Business version and Mobility. So last question, if I get both I can suspend mobility service and use it only when traveling?
