So, I made a post about 1 year ago asking if anyone else has experienced the problem of their truck not starting. I had taken it to one dealership first, they said they fixed the problem by charging the battery, and 17 miles later my truck died again, at a stop light.

Just over 1 year later, and she died again. This time was slightly different. I went to start it and the dash says "Key FOB not detected" so I hold the FOB to the push start button and try to start it. Dash flashes and flickers, truck goes into "run" state, but engine doesn't start. All warning lights come on, wipers kick on, and then she slowly drains. I try and turn the truck off, dash says "Vehicle not in park". It's definitely in park, it never turned on. So then, the only option is to sit with the truck until it dies 100% and get it towed AGAIN to the dealership that "fixed" it last time.

Last time, they replaced both batteries in the truck along with the fuse box. Any ideas what the actual problem may be and if they'll actually fix the root problem this time? I'd really like to not take it back again after this time, but laws on my side the 4th time.

Maybe try a different dealership? Sounds like electrical gremlins.

Could be a faulty alternator also. If the batteries aren't getting a consistent charge, it could throw off the computer and start throwing codes.

It's been to two dealerships for this problem already. :CWL:? It gets towed to whichever one it's closest to. The second one, honestly, is my dealership of choice out here so far anyways, which is the one it was towed to yesterday.

  1. Make sure the FOB battery isn't dead. Sounds like it might be. Never hurts to check/replace that right away.
  2. There's definitely something electrical going wrong. The dealership needs to get involved, and hopefully, in addition to checking out the battery and alternator, they check circuits for parasitic drain.
