Newest setup, rear seat delete and put a platform storage with drawers in to keep the tools, recovery gear etc in so I can keep the bed more open for other things.
Next going to install some rails on the platform with d rings so I can lash down the cooler, tent etc for camping and off road.

I was just coming here to post on buying the SHW Offroad "Seat Delete" system myself...and lo and behold, here you are posting on it. Mine's for the dogs so I won't need "dogs" for "stuff."

I just bought mine today online after looking at my budget for after market accessories, looking at the dogs who will spend a portion of their lives back there deciding to go with a finished product. How long for delivery might I ask after purchase?

I was looking at both the major brands Goose Gear and SHW Offroad and Goose Gear is even MORE expensive is lower in the back with less storage underneath and SHW has a day before New Years ONLY, 20% off coupon. That did it and decided me. I did NOT go for the drawer on the 60% side but did buy it for the 40% side. Did you get both?

The wife is still not sold on the Gladiator and brought up the lack of space in back for the dogs pointedly... I was already doing a seat delete but was looking at a DIY which I could do, save lots o money, but I'm having surgery at the end of January and won't be back to "relative norm" till April/May but driving by midish February so, I'm just doin it. I have an aftermarket guy who will take it in and do everything likely while I'm down and out after surgery. Also, does it impact your sub-woofer assuming you the the Alpine system?

And since you are a squid, I"m "clearing the decks..." for surgery and recovery. This from a "jarhead" or whatever you call us now days in public.

PS - AND, I'm looking at your pics and what slider/steps is that that you have brand wise. I am looking hard for those also for the dogs (getting older) and the wife. How do they work to make it easier to get in and out per your opinion? We have a Ram 2500 so I know what a real step up is amelieorated by a retracting step and this step up isn't bad on the Gladiator. Do the slider/steps work. I want simple don't really want to advertise for the company and have a granite crystal gladiator like I think you do...

First off, thanks for your service brother.
I ordered my shw seat deletes in September and got them in December. I got the drawers for both the 60 and 40 side.
Also I did the reaper off road tailgate storage box.
the steps are from Hooke, I ordered them on Amazon. It gives a good step to get in.
Yes I have the granite crystal too.

How did you get that back door to open so wide? Just bought a dog ramp that won’t fit unless I can do that.

Here's how I did it on mine. Remove door strap
Jeep Gladiator Seat delete again?! 09a_DoorStra

I had a random small velcro strap laying around but you could use paracord or really anything to make a strap extender
Jeep Gladiator Seat delete again?! 09b_DoorStra

Hook the extender onto the door strap. Just make sure that it is not longer than the wiring harness that goes to the door.
Jeep Gladiator Seat delete again?! 09c_DoorStra

Slip the extender back onto the hook
Jeep Gladiator Seat delete again?! 09d_DoorStra

Et Voila! The extender I used, being adjustable, allowed me to get the length just right that the rear door swings wide, but not so wide that I can't open the front door at the same time.

Nice Truck. Like the Wheels/tire set up.

I'm going to have to think about that reaper tailgate piece but that looks very interesting. Thanks for the tip. I do like those steps... I have the OEM steps coming, used, very good price. They are the ones on Overland's and High Altitudes. They are not rockers though, but always looked at that as temporary. I'll run em and see how long they last. I'm mostly doing moderate trails. All the ones I had to turn back on in my Renegade even my 1500. I like the way the OEM's look and they do have a decent step for wife and dogs.

Amazing! I just learn more auto mechanics in 10 seconds than if I’d studied a book. So I guess when you undo the strap you can then slowly determine the max expansion for the wiring harness and extend your “new” strap to just before that point? May seem like a dumb question but I’m a disbarred lawyer so everything I neglected to learn while I studied then practiced (for a short time) law is biting me on the backside.

Yes. The strap I used just happened to be a small Velcro strap that came wrapped around a Bubba Rope…I tend to packrat that kind of stuff. As you said, I just adjusted the length to then get the amount of door swing I wanted.

While not a big deal, the only improvement I would make (and still need to make but have been lazy) is to grab a needle and thread and throw a couple of stitches through the Velcro. Occasionally I will use to much force “throwing” the door open (read that as my wife uses too much force throwing the door open) and the Velcro separates and the door overextends beyond where I want it to. A couple stitches through the Velcro would prevent that.

There's a new thread on the SHW seat delete and I remembered your post and linked it as everyone wanted to know what you had done. Someone else was using a caribiner but sure wasn't happy with that sollution...

How diplomatic of you... "read my wife..." LOL
She's wife #4. Eventually I learn...

Actually, I feel kind of bad for her because she drive a 2018 JKUR and the doors on that thing are much heavier. So she's used to "swinging" a heavier door and she will whip that thing open. As far as the "success" of my strap contraption goes, it has never come undone when I have opened the door...just sayin'...

LOL
