Always did a 5 tire rotation with my 2014 JK, and will continue to do so with my Gladiator as I purchased a matching 5 tire/wheel set anyway (35's). Like the fact that all tires have the same amount of wear on them, and last longer with a 5 tire rotation pattern before needing replacement. It takes all of 30 minutes to do in my garage, or a little longer if a trip to the bathroom and a second beer  is needed!
What kind of beer? Barley wine might slow things down a mite.

The benefits to the 4 tires rotation are that, it's easier to perform and have a matching pair when replacing for one new tire.

Edit: Assuming a matching spare wheel as well.

And I'm like - what did you say? We used to do that all the time with full sized spares.
He said "and the recommendation to stop doing that came out several years ago, it's not recommended"
So wanting to make sure I'm not Rip VanWinkle or something, and slept through some big notice that 5 tire rotations are bad (and that's exactly what he implied) I checked - ok, what did I miss.
Nope, Cooper, tirebuyer, tirerack, and others, still show it and still say "it's good for 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive when there's wear on the other tires and you need to use the spare"
So what the heck - where's this guy getting "we don't do that" and "it's not recommended and hasn't been for years" bit??
When he said that I thought - good grief, why, what's the harm? It's GOOD, IMO - you use 5 tires over their age, not 4, you keep wear of the spare the same as the others for LIMITED SLIP differentials and others, and - what could it possibly hurt?

Other than the extra labor and them not wanting to do it for the flat rate tire rotation charge - what possible logic could there by for not doing it?

I have a matching Overland rim and plan on doing it when I get them swapped (he said it would cost $40 for them to swap rims on my JT, put the spare on the new wheel.)
Oh, he also said "but is it the SAME SIZE rim" - I felt like DUH - I told him twice it was a matching rim from a JT OVerland,
And again he said - but is it the same size? I wanted to say "YES, DAMN IT - it's off another JT OVERLAND - what the hell size WOULD it be?" but didn't.

Man, I give up on these stupid dealers.
It’s concerning a service writer can say that with a straight face. This is one of the most frustrating things I have run into with dealers. Some say they don’t do it, some just lie and say they will but don’t do it. I gave up and do it myself. My off road trailer runs matching 37” tires and wheels. I do a seven tire rotation.

When the 32” K02’s that came with our off road trailer wear out, I’m going to throw matching 37’s on it. I’m going for 8, since the trailer has a spare carrier that will fit a 37. But no rush. The Jeep 37’s need to last for a bit. That pattern is going to be complicated.

Based on what's in the refrigerator today, my choices are Coors Light, Carlsberg, Fat Tire, Blue Moon, Deez Nuts (Local craft brew) or Unibroue La Fin du Monde (9.1% abv), although the lineup changes frequently!

Luckily it was just that one service writer - I've not seen him there the last couple of times I visited their shop so who knows.
The others - no problem. The techs - no problem.
Also - that was the same guy who argued that my tonneau cover was like all others and they all sagged badly until I got jeepcares involved and another guy heard us talking and butted in and made a comment - I ended up with a new cover.

Fortunately my trailer had an option for hubs with the Jeep pattern. Looks a bit crazy, but It’ll go over anything.

Nice setup. Ours as well. It came with a 5 on 5 lug pattern and the fenders fit 37’s easily. You can go bigger if you move the fenders. It also goes anywhere, within reason.
