I was out exploring the California deserts a few weekends ago and I found myself driving slowly compared to other off-roaders I saw out there. It had me wondering why and I came to the conclusion that after close to 20k miles my JT still feels nice and tight. I have little to no squeaks and rattles when cruising pavement. Iā€˜m afraid by bombing down many of our washboard and occasional rocky roads, I’m somehow going to loosen everything up.

So my question to everyone is, do you travel fast down less than smooth trails and if so how is your rig holding up? Are you finding everything loosening up?

Oh, and this is a picture of an awesome encounter while cruising along at 4mph through a canyon. I think he was using me for target practice.

I am over 50 years old, I don't feel the need to mash the fast pedal much these days. Having said that, "OMG, OMG, SQUEEE!!! Where the hell is that canyon?"

Thank you! Now on my list. My brother in Temecula says it's time to visit him anyway.

You drive YOUR jeep, however you see fit.

Wanna crawl at less than a snails pace? Cool
Wanna blast through like a prerunner? Or ping it off the revlimiter every chance you get? Go for it.

I hear ya! My question is, how’s everyone’s rig holding up? My only reference is my wife’s JL that has less miles rattles like a tin can. The hardtop on that thing sucks.

I drive my jkur fast and hard on the forested mountain trails around here. im personally not an off-roading fan i just love to hunt big game in the backcountry. so if im running late, which happens alot, i drift and jump for an hour each morning going through the mountain. I now have 150k on my jkur and it does have a shake in the stearing wheel between 40-45. but im hopefull that just because of the 35in km2, a friend had the same tire and complained about shakes at the same speed. i have never broken anything or had to retighten anything. however when i take the tires off im going to check ball joints and tie rod ends and maybe change out the shocks and stabilizer which are all original.

I've gone way too fast on washboards to get where I'm going to Death Valley, specifically the road into Titus Canyon (from Beatty NV). I get more noise from the receiver insert skidplate than anything else just coming up to 14K. I wouldn't sweat it.

And yeah the Cobra was probably using you as a target, I was reminded of that when we got "strafed" by F16's at Trona Pinnacles. Have several military pilot acquaintances, they assure me that civilian vehicles are VERY useful training dummies......
