Well for those that follow my build, after a year and a half of HARD wheeling my truck it finally came back to bite me. Was in a deep creek bed at Hawk Pride on Whiskey Run and while negotiating one of the various zig zags, I zigged when I should have zagged and thought my rear was clear and turned more of my attention to the front and started passenger and caused the rear to slide off a rock and CRUNCH I hit a big ole tree root on the bank. The guy behind me comes across the radio "Trent, your tail light is hanging out". I get out to pop it back in and find a big old dent at the top of my bed.

So this morning I took it to the body shop to get a quote on repairs to claim it on my insurance. I am very likely going to use that estimate to then exercise my right to choose my repair facility which will be my buddies offroad shop and take the big leap to a Motobilt Bobbed bed. I have not been a fan of the looks of the bed, but while doing research on bobbed beds (Jeep6, Motobilt, Wardog) I came across the video of the Motobilt guys beating the crap out of the corner of the bed with a baseball bat in the same place essentially I damaged on mine. This took me from not really considering it to placing it as the front runner, bc I am not going to stop wheeling and its very likely I will bump something else. So we will see what the estimate comes out to be.

BTW the body shop was AWESOME. I chose a local smaller body shop instead of one of these big ole gobble up the little guy body shops and the gentleman helping me kept telling me how awesome my truck was and he loved how I made it look good AND actually use it for what its built for. He even noticed some scratches on my rear bumper and bed slider and said he was going to include those in the estimate(even tho I am pretty sure they are unrelated to the tree smash.)

Also heavily considering chaning my springs out for 3.5" or 4.5" springs and bumping up to 40's... Then really the only thing left I will want/need is PSC but I HATE having no steering while aired down and bound up.

Reach out to me when you are ready to head down the PSC rabbit hole, I still have a large part of my kit from my 3.6 in the garage as most of it had to be swapped for my V8.
You would still need to buy hoses and I think the overflow container, but I believe all the rest of the parts are intact and working. Will be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new, I'll promise you that.

Sucks you damaged the bed, but I'm stoked you are thinking of bobbing it. Don't forget it also allows you to sell your OEM hitch (mine went for $200), tail lights, Rear bumper, bed sliders, hitch skid, and bed itself, so you'll recoup some of the bobbed bed cost from those sells.

Ive decided, its getting bobbed! And insurance is going to cover the whole project :). Yes I plan on parting out the bed as much as possible to work up the funds for the tire carrier and some lights for it and my 3.5" springs im swapping to.

Ive actually been reviewing your build and write up on you bed since there is nearly zero by way of videos on YouTube on it. Your write ups are gonna come in clutch.

40s are on the horizon, and ill def take you up on the PSC parts you've got(dont let them go! If they are in your way let me know and we will work it out).

I'm so stoked to see it bobbed. 😎

If you are building it, let me know when, if it works with my schedule, I'll come out and help!
