I’ll use this thread to document install notes and reviews on my new 2020 JT Rubicon.

First Mods (Dealer Installed):
Mopar (Teraflex) 2 inch spring lift
Mopar Spec Fox Shocks
37x12.50x17 Toyo Open Country MT’s
17x9 Fuel Kicker Wheels

Lots of folks have the lift. Its great. Real stars here are the wheels and tires. Tires balanced out great, lots of bite. Good bit of tire noise but fits the character of the jeep. Lots more to do, this is just a start. Excited to get this going.

The guys at Elite Offroad here in Birmingham AL helped me pick a great winch combo. Went with a Warn EVO 10s with synthetic line with an Artec Industries mounting plate. Finished it off with a Factor 55 Ultrahook.

The install was straightforward. I liked the Artec plate because it allowed me to bench mount the winch onto the plate and then install. Wiring was simple, fished up inside the passenger fender. I like the low profile of the winch in the factory bumper and for a cleaner look I chose to hit the artec fairlead plate with a little bit of black bedliner paint. Highly recommend this setup, the ultrahook is super clean and has a lot of versatility.

Thanks! The next phase of silvertruck’s build is taking shape. Parts ordered and appointment set for June 15. Changes include gears, steering, and trussing the front axle and some supporting changes.

Once the foundation is done I’ll turn more to bed upfit and gear.

Ok so just a little update. Working with Elite Offroad and Performance here in Birmingham. Parts are starting to come in, so here’s a little more detail about what is getting done later this month. The goal here is to provide a reinforcing foundation to strengthen and reinforce for long term durability and flexibility down the road. Secondary goal is to restore performance and improve control in various situations. Another byproduct is it should help the jeep steer and track better for daily use. Its my daily driver and my hobby rig.

Front end:
Synergy Track Bar and Sector Shaft Brace
Steer Smart Yeti XD adjustable front track bar
RPM Steering 7075 aluminum tie rod and drag link
Dana Spicer 1 ton ball joints
Clayton Offroad adjustable lower control arms
Artec Industries Front Axle Armor Kit - front axle truss, inner C gussets, FAD skid
3/4 in spacer lift to recover sag from winch

Differentials:
Dana Spicer 4.88’s
ARB diff covers
Superchips Flashcal

We’re on the calendar for June 15-17 install. Probably figure a little over 20 hrs of labor. Given the extent of the work, We’re going to take the front axle out and bench build and paint that part.

We’re excited to see this take shape and see how it performs on and off road.

We got the jeep back today. Installs went well. Got back too late to take pictures but will follow up with more details. For now, the quick thing to say is the steering and response from the mods are a game changer. Steering Slop and pull to the right is gone. Jeep has a ton more pep. Entire front end feels solid as a rock but ride remains plush.

Here is a quick update on the 4.88’s

More info and pics to come. Here’s a peek at the parts list:

Install went great. Had some time to put some break in miles on the JTR with the mods. Turned out awesome. Here’s the setup:

Steering:
RPM Steering 7075 aluminum tie rod and Drag Link (2.5 ton)
RPM Steering stabilizer mount
Steer Smarts Yeti HD adjustable track bar
Clayton Off Road adjustable lower control arms
Dana Spicer 1 ton ball joints
Fox 2.0 steering stabilizer
Fox steering stabilizer relocation bracket
Synergy sector shaft and trackbar brace

Axle:
Artec frong axle Truss Kit
Artec inner C gussets
Artec front LCA skids
Clayton Off Road FAD skid
ARB iron diff cover (black) - both axles
Dana Spicer 4.88 gears

Other:
Dynastar 3/4 inch spacers (front only)
Superchips Flashcal
4 wheel alignment

I think we had 24 hrs in labor total, plus parts. Steering slop - gone. Pulling to right - gone. Hunting for gears on freeway - gone. Absolutely no vibes or harshness. Much quicker in traffic. More flex.

We took the opportunity to install all this as a system instead of as a piece at a time to save labor. I have been really impressed with my shop choice too - Elite Offroad and Performance in Chelsea Alabama. I cant wait to get it dirty but we need to put some miles on the gears first and as a precaution I’d like to have it all torque checked when we change the gear oil before getting out there.

If you have time, tell me what you think! Pictures to follow.

I’m starting to think more about accessories and gear. I’m doing research on inflators, basic trail tools, and storage. I also need to figure out how I want to carry a full size spare.

First things first - SilverTruck is getting linex today. Truck came with mopar slip in liner and I hated it. Here’s the before pic and will post the results tonight.
