Jeep Gladiator Slimy dealership ALERT - Milton Chrysler is advertising MY truck for sale but I own it! upload_2019-9-21_14-26-18

apparently they are selling MY TRUCK??? Advertised as a low mileage vehicle in their inventory... yes that is my VIN and specs!

It has been a super headache from the day I signed the purchase agreement to deal with Milton Chrysler (Ontario, Canada).

First I was promised options of negotiating the price after initiating my pre-spec order and that as per a clause on the back of the agreement we would mutually dissolve and renegotiate when the truck exists. Also if for any reason I could back out with no penalty.

Then the truck arrives and I missed the phone call because guess what... I work. I call back and get the rudest receptionist who basically wont give me the time of day "unless [ I ] have a vehicle in service or purchased a vechicle" well lady I did and I paid a hell of a pretty penny for it!

When I get to the dealership the manager tells me I have to take the truck or take it up in court within the first minute of interaction with him. Says he could have sold the truck multiple times before I got it and now it has my name on it. Yup the window sticker says my name on it.

Defeated I bite the bullet and take the truck, I really wanted this truck for the longest time.... since rumors began... and my Comanche is getting tired. So I sign the financing forms and get them to under spray it with the black stuff (the only reason my Comanche is still on the road is because of this stuff).

I come to get the truck the next evening and they managed to spray the Fox shocks but not 100% or anything... no... they sprayed just the outside so you can see half the shock label and it clearly looks bad. They also over sprayed the body but managed to miss massive areas of the underside.

It takes 4 attempts before the dealership manages to get the truck done almost 80%. Back and forth and back and forth. I should not have to be the one to show them each time the massive areas (one was the size of an adult t-shirt) that they failed to cover with the spray NOR the areas of the body they managed to spray instead!!

The Service Manager tells me he will make it up for the lost time now that they have had my truck for the better half of the first week and I have had to go back and forth to come get it but find out its not ready.... on the condition of a positive google review!!! HELL NO! Eventually he offers me 2 free oil changes but I do my own oil changes and have no plans of going back so he then offers me $150 parts and service credit. Which is why I was looking for mopar accessories for the JTR.

But now to find they are advertising MY truck that I own as a "low mileage" in stock vehicle?? I'm pretty sure I am looking at it right now in my workplace parking lot in another municipality altogether. Someone has some explaining to do and I cant even be bothered to give them the time of day unless I have to.

Safe to say I have decided to take any further back end business (maintenance etc) to another dealership. But they better not be touching my truck!! /rant

Maybe they put it up for sale because they thought you weren't going to purchase it and never took it down off the website?

Not excusing the crap dealer stuff, but you could just as easily walked the first sign of trouble rather than compound the buffoonery of dealing with them and expecting them to follow through with promises.

Dealers and salesmen feed off of desperation.

Did you actually sign the paperwork? I just looked and it’s not on there now. Not sure how it is in Canada, but here in the US, FCA loads all inbound Jeeps onto a dealer’s website, sold orders or not. My JL was on the dealer site until about the time I took delivery, and I’ve seen plenty of others on the forums report the same. Don’t know why, but they do.

Proactive dealers can hide or control the website content (my job at my dealership), but the sale of the vehicle does not alway show up right away when it is NVDR'd so I take them down at delivery to make content accurate...

I have been on vacation for a week and our website is a mess so Monday I will start the correcting process...

But 3 months online after sale is intentional you have to mark it available for sale and override the system, that may be why it was considered used as the vehicle already was out of new status per FCA...

Why people get purchase paralysis I'll never understand.

"No."

That is the most important word to remember when walking into a dealership of any kind, or when dealing with other people at any level.

"No."

Are you going to get any degree of satisfaction or compensation because they have your truck advertised.?

No

I agree the dealer is a slimy bastard, but seriously man, never forget to put in your spine in the morning.

NEVER sign a contract with the “understanding” you’re going to “tear it up, and renegotiate it” later! Dealers will do and say ANYTHING to make a sale. Once the contract is signed, it’s a done deal... and any off-the-record “understanding” you may have had is moot! ;{

Would not say it's a backbone issue. I knew there was a chance I'd be paying what I originally signed for and that's why I didnt fight too hard on the numbers. I got a custom ordered JTR before they could be ordered and I knew what I could be paying to get it. It ended up still being lower than the final sticker.

Its the rest of the interaction and everything else that followed the deal that I did not take well.

After a quick phone call to FCA to report their tactics of using my vehicle as a bait lure the dealership took the ad down.

That said. The change of my vehicles status to used on their inventory and to list it 3months after it left the lot was, admitted by the sales rep who called to apologize once FCA got involved, nothing shy of crookery.

Sorry for the late reply we had a death in the family and other personal issues to deal with.

Stealerships are stealerships but this one takes the cake.

This is correct. I am a sales manager for a southern CDJR store. When you sell a car you must record it with FCA in their internal system. In “our world” that’s called punching a car, or booking it, or the technical term NVDR(new vehicle delivery report).

The usual flow is that your financing software(DMS) where you generate your title docs, contracts, disclosures etc. supersedes your customer management software and website. When that deal is marked as sold in the DMS it will automatically be removed from the website. As backup, the manufacturer has direct connection to your website. When that deal is punched in FCA’s system is sends a notice to your website provider the vehicle has sold and deleted automatically. It is not instant. There can be a lag of up to 24-48hrs. If that vehicle was reported sold it was automatically deleted. It had to be manually added back to the website and that stock number had to be “locked” so that it will not be deleted when the next refresh of records comes from the DMS 4-6hrs later.

I’m going to shoot you straight... the success of a dealership in today’s market lies within your internet traffic and your service retention. Customers do more research and are more educated than ever before. The new “lot” is your website. Most customers research or define what they want first, might shop a couple of brands online, pick a model, then research dealerships that have been identified as possibly having the vehicle in stock. THE MAJORITY OF THIS TAKES PLACE ONLINE WITH MINIMAL VISITS TO A DEALERSHIP. If you don’t have your website merchandised with the right cars, proper inventory levels, good pictures, fair pricing, and have a great process you will not have traffic or customers to sell to. Having a car placed online drives traffic to your website and can be possibly converted to a sale. This is also called “flipping” a customer to another unit after not being “available” for various reasons. Not ethical if a common practice, but it also must be taken into account that this happens occasionally by fluke. I’ve had cars that I’ve sold and try to make go offline that will not go offline for any reason. There are so many systems that talk to each other to make a dealership work it is crazy and not uncommon for the systems to “talk” to each other properly.

I have found 2 different Gladiators on 2 different dealers sites in the last week that suddenly came up sold a day or two after I asked about them. On the second, that was listed on the dealers site and cars.com, I even mentioned the first suddenly selling after I asked about it and never heard back from that salesman after that.

If anyone would like to buy or order a Gladiator I would be happy to price it or walk you through an order with transparency. Every other day of the week I am a consumer just like the majority of y’all and I don’t like to get jerked around. I will print you the invoice and price it $500 back of invoice plus any incentives you might qualify for. I am in Georgia but can drop ship to almost any dealership in the 50 states.

My name is Zach Rand and I am the sales manager here. If you call just ask for me or shoot me a PM and I’ll give you my cell number.
