Well I have had both 1st was a gas rubi now I have the exact same only eco diesel I will tell you the gas did better holding the plow up, the eco is pretty much on the bump stops all the time, springs are to weak for sure, hit any bump or Train tracks it hits hard, as for heating issues Non existent , I am in Ontario CANADA it’s cold, eco diesels will bottom out new with nothing on the front they need different springs, I am putting on my Aev spacer kit so will see if it helps at all, mine is a snow dog plow for the gladiator or reg jl steering and all are fine , I installed this plow in both jeeps the first gas last winter and the eco this fall
MDII ?
Curious - how much does your Snowdogg weigh?

I've had mine on for a week now and have driven it 4 different times with plow on - highways, city streets, tracks, gravel road, etc. and no problem at all. It sits a bit lower than I'd like but the springs do seem to be holding it up well enough. I've not hit HARD bumps or pavement dips with any speed and the tracks here are pretty mild in any case.
Still, not any issues driving it around.
I was really afraid I'd need to drop it off it I wanted to go anywhere - no.
Will take it off later this week since we're supposed to hit 40 and lose most if not all of the snow we have (only about 3 to 4" tops) so no need to leave it on.

Yes md 2 I am not sure if the weight I took the Jeep yesterday to my camp to plow the road out , every dip or bump it hit the bump stops, very rare that happened with the gas rubicon, I am now looking at a set of Aev high capacity 3 inch coils

I would be surprised if anybody overheated when the ambient temps are below freezing.

But I'm also curious who has a plow on a diesel. Subd.
Used to see a ton of overheating the first cold snap of the year in the ā€˜90s. The advent of fuel injection meant no one was warming up their car before driving and there were a lot more highway connectors. Jump in car, start and drive, hit on ramp in 2-3 minutes and introduce 65 mph windchill. Frozen radiators don’t flow when the t-stat finally opens.

Sorry, windchill only impacts humans, animals, etc. - not inanimate objects. It's the cooling effect of the wind as it evaporates H2O from the skin.
If it's -20 outside and the wind speed is 50 mph, a radiator can only possibly get down to -20.
It can't get colder because the air isn't colder.
It gets down to that -20 faster like blowing on hot food to cool it off, but it can't get colder than -20

The problem is with the ordinary person, executive, soccer mom, etc. buying and leasing cars, they never bothered checking the antifreeze protection. What WE saw was icing due to "gee, I didn't know you had to do anything other than add water when it got low". Summer driving meant heat - got a little low they'd pull in and put water in the recovery tank. Engine cools off - it pulls the water from the recovery tank and pretty soon you have a 60/40 mix or less.
Thus the advent of "lifetime" or "100,000 mile" coolant. No one bothered doing the full empty, clean, refill with fresh thing.
Can't count the number I checked with protection only down to 0 degrees or even higher.

I "jumped in car, hit the highway" all the time, I rarely let a vehicle warm up. It's wasteful, and unnecessary with a properly tuned vehicle. Never had a problem. Even when we had a full week of daytime highs of minus 20! (then the following week it warmed up to highs of 0 )

I ended up buying a Myer Home plow that uses a front mount hitch. Install was super simple. It does sag the front of the truck down but I'm only using this to plow our drive and the in-laws drive (a block away). It literally takes about a minute to put it on and take it off and I have no plans on driving at any speed with it on the truck.

I run a municipal maintenance dept. (for another 5 work days before I retire, whoop whoop!)

Most of our smaller plows (1.5 ton trucks and smaller) are Western UltraMount2 setups. It literally takes a minute to install or remove the plow. So those usually come off if there is no snow in the forecast for a week or more. The older Fisher minute mounts are more like 20 minute mounts, so those stay on all season. Same with the plows on the big trucks.
That Western Ultramount 2 looks slick!

congrats on the retirement. Jealous over here.

Interesting as that's another I had looked at and it was on my short list because of some of the features.
When they are so bloody easy to take off and put back on, you don't need to worry a lot about the load up front.
Me - looks like I will indeed be looking at the Synergy 2" springs more seriously come next spring because when I was turning into a parking lot today, there was just enough of a dip the plow smacked the pavement on one corner. Embarrassing.
That or 3/4" spacers on top of the springs I have.

(and rats, wish my shop or garage looked that clean and neat)

Looks like you already chose one but I’ll throw this out there. I have a 21 diesel with Rustys 4ā€ lift 37s and am running a Boss HTX vplow. I have plowed 2 seasons with this and couldn’t be happier. Last year was 35s no lift and with the new springs from Rusty it carries the plow no problem and very little sag. I pull the mount at end of each season.

Thanks, I'll probably look into a set of stiffer springs at some point myself. and for the record, to my liking, my shop is a wreck! Product of living in one side and shop on the other for the time being anyway lol.

You may be impressed with what you can do with yours.
I'm on the border of over-kill but then my wife suggesting doing all the truck could handle. She hates it if I come home with a $49.95 saw instead of the pro model.
