So I have a 21 Willy's sport with the narrow axles. I have Rubicon springs and shocks for now with a 1.5.' spacer up front and a 3/4" spacer in the rear. Currently have 285/70/17 Falkens. Want to go to 35/10.5/17s. I know some say there is rubbing on the narrow axles with the 35s. My question is does that rubbing come from the 35" height or from the normal 12.5 width. If I go with the 35/10.5, will I avoid the rubbing being narrower or will the height still cause rubbing? Trying to figure out if I want to go with the 34s or 35s. I will also at some point over the summer be installing either a 2" or 2.5" lift, but I need tires now and want to get it right. Thanks for any responses.

Are you running stock wheels?
Do you have a stock bumper?
If not stock wheels how much back spacing do your wheels have?
With the spacers and rubicon springs you could probably clear a 35x12.5 with 5in or less of backspacing.

Stock rims from a Rubicon. Stock plastic bumper. Also don't want 12.5. only want the 10.5 wide on stock rims. That is why I am trying to figure out if it is the height or width that causes rub with 35s

People are running 35x11.5 on stock wheels with out rubbing 10.5 should work.

My setup is a sport non-max tow with stock steel rims (17x7.5), 1.5 inch front leveler kit, stock plastic bumper, Mickey Thompson 255/85R-17 tires (which is the closest metric approximation to 10x35).

Zero rubbing. You're good!

Thank you! DO you have a pic you can post?

Edit: Nevermind. Found one!

I have kenda all terrain 315s measure less than 34s. I do have a 2 inch mopar lift and offset wheels. I rub on the outside edge of the fenders with my tires off road. If you are doing closer to 35s I'd recommend high clearance fenders or more lift than 2.

The width. I went with Mickey Thompson 35" pizza cutters with zero rub. Rubicon Launch Edition rims, look very similar to the Willy's. I'm running 3.5" Teraflex springs. I did the same build you are doing, and upgrade as I go.
