With the cold weather arriving I've remote started my truck twice. On both occasions there was a burning smell inside the truck. It wasn't particularly electrical but more like a nut roasting on a stove. I chalked it up to perhaps a mouse stashing an acorn in/on the exhaust system somewhere and it was just burning off. However, now my steering wheel heater won't come on and I no longer have the smell. When I push the steering wheel heater button it will light for a few seconds and then extinguish. I believe I have an issue with the steering wheel heater.

Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, what was the fix?

It could be caused by several different components or wiring. Pulling your fault codes may help point you in a direction, but hands on troubleshooting will be required to determine the actual cause.

In a similar issue I had with my passenger seat heat not working, the seat cushion heater had to be replaced.

Thank you for the schematic! I'll check the codes tomorrow.
