I hate this for you! That was a great looking Rig. While I keep mine in a garage that doesn't stop thieves out and about. I have looked at the Tazer for the PIN type input to disable the vehicle. I let me Sirus XM Guardian trial expire because I didn't see much value in having Remote Start and all that crap when I have it on my fob...Also, I have a third party GPS tracker outside of Guardian.

Thieves suck! Best of luck to you.

Be looking in the near future for AI to take a role in theft prevention or mitigation. A company in Singapore introduced a device at CES 2024 that integrates AI, the Internet of Things, and smart sensors; it can provide notifications and tracking via GPS, non-carrier-specific wireless service, & WiFi signals, and it has Bluetooth capabilities. Its battery life is about 30 days & it’s rechargeable via USB.

I’m working now on specifications for a vehicle-specific extension of that, to use the Bluetooth capability to link to the CAN bus, and have the AI side of the equation drive vehicle alarms (in addition to remote notifications) and gradual & progressive vehicle disabling and immobilization.

Special place in hell for all the auto thieves out there, well, every thief actually. Hate them. Sorry for your loss man, from another Sarge Green Mojave owner....

If I recall correctly, the first press of lock doesn't set the alarm - you have to hit lock two times.
Not sure if that's configurable or not. But that's how it was on our other Jeeps - just locking doesn't set the alarm, it's how you lock, or a double-press of lock if I recall.
It's in the OWNERS MANUAL in case anyone still is familiar with such things.
Only need to press it once according to the manual. The second press is to activate the "annoy your neighbors everytime you lock your door" honk. Unless you're like me and disable that.

Yeah, you are right, had forgotten that detail. Mine is set to not honk when I lock it. My wife likes to audibly hear that it's locked so she sets hers differently. She's just afraid "it didn't work if you can't hear it". Whatever LOL

Update:

This past week my insurance started the Total Loss process. Wednesday they made me an offer (pretty fair value), but I countered with some additional info. Friday they gave me an updated value and I accepted. They contacted my lender to inform them, and they declared the total loss on their end. Monday morning I have an appointment to turn over keys and title, and any additional paperwork that’s needed.

Then, yesterday my phone rings. Detective FOUND MY TRUCK!

It was in a parking garage, all the way in the corner. Passenger rear window busted out and glove box ripped out to access the electrical components. Every single personal belonging was still there. Raybans, tools, etc. I was able to grab all my stuff and the police were towing it to the impound lot. They needed my key because the tow trucks couldn’t get it out with the low ceilings. Key fob still worked fine.

1. Not sure who owns the truck until I can talk to my insurance tomorrow morning. I verbally accepted their offer and they have already started the process. They’ve started to organize payment to my lender but not sure how far along that is. I haven’t signed anything or turned over any documents yet. Of course the theft department is off on the weekends…

2. Now it’s way more clear how this all happened. This “behind the glovebox” stuff is WILD. Broke the window to get in, maybe had popped the hood to disable the alarm prior to that, then electrically got the vehicle to think the fob was in it somehow. When it was taken, it was driven into the city and parked in this garage near the bars and clubs. Parking garage ticket was in the cup holder. It entered the garage the night it was stolen. Just been sitting there.

3. Question for anyone that may know. IF insurance says it’s still mine, will my truck have to get a salvage title? I’ve seen different info on this. Some things say that any stolen vehicle gets a marked title if it’s recovered. Is that the case? Or only if the vehicle was totaled before it was found? The timing all has me in limbo. I really can’t believe that they found it at all.

Wow, well congrats on them finding it. It sounds like it’s in good shape too. I can’t answer the salvage title question but I’d seriously have to pass if they wanted to give me a salvage title for simply it being stolen. I thought I’ve heard that you only get a salvage title if it’s been declared a total loss, ie, the total damage exceeds a certain %threshold of the vehicles value.
sounds like we need a steel box to wrap the star connectors behind the glove box to slow these damn thieves down! Ugh. I took my Mojave into the city last weekend and I was worried the whole time it was going to be gone when I came back. I gotta get some hood locks, flip the horns, activate the hood alarm soon…….just been waiting for warmer weather.

Who says that? Insurance companies, your state's DMV or people on forums?
Be wary of what you read. Some people like to toss guesses out as fact and it gets repeated so many times it's accepted as fact.
Only your insurance company can tell you that - and if you have not turned over the title, etc. - then there has been no exchange of anything.

Don't fret on that - wait until THEY tell you how it goes.
All they've done is start the process, so my GUESS is that if there's been no title exchanged, you still own the vehicle, they cancel the process and that's that.

I was in the auto collision side of things and we actually even had a vehicle stolen one time out of our shop on a weekend. They took the Jeep and loaded as many tools as they could and drove out. They recovered the Jeep Cherokee a couple states away with a ripped seat and a few scratches. They gave the owner the choice if he wanted it back or not and he did. They also gave the owner a drivetrain warranty to some extent. We replaced the seat cover and fixed the scratches. The vehicle was about a year old if I remember right.I

Is there a thread that talks about the vulnerability behind the glove box? Additionally, any recommendations on locking hood latches for a Mojave? I was looking at a couple and they seem not so secure.

I’ve seen posts talk about the glove box being a problem, but not necessarily a strong way to prevent that access.

I bought locking latches from Amazon. Haven’t installed them yet, but they don’t seem like the best locks. Even the more expensive ones I’ve seen don’t look to be the most secure. All better than nothing though.

Here’s how I found my truck. Window smashed in, and the glove box sitting in the passenger floor. Haven’t inspected under the hood yet. Hopefully tomorrow they will move it from impound lot to body shop, and I’ll be able to do a walk through with the adjuster to determine the full extent of damages.
