Stopped at light Gladiator vs 53’ Semi Truck…

Well, I never imagined I would get into an accident with an 18 wheeler and escape with so little damage. I was stopped at a light and he tried to make a turn behind me and just clipped me enough.

Time to get quotes.

No surprise to me how little damage you had.

These Gladiators are built like tanks. In 2-24-23, my wife's birthday, my 2021 Gladiator saved her life.

Long story short, the driver of a Ford Ranger was out of control in oncoming traffic. 2 lane rural highway in central Florida. Both were traveling between 50-55mph. She tried to steer for the ditch on the right while standing on the brake. At the last moment he veered left directly in front of her. She T-boned his Ranger. The passenger door was in the driver's seat. The Ranger folded in half around the Gladiator.

She effectively walked away with minor injuries other than a shattered heel that required reconstruction. The driver of the Ranger did not survive. He was more than 3x the legal limit. FHP said if she'd been driving anything else she probably wouldn't have survived either. And that Gladiator still had the plastic bumpers. The FHP investigator has seen several horrific accidents involving Gladiators and the they take minimal damage compared to the other vehicles.

Needless to say, we bought a 2023 Gladiator to replace the 2021. This time I added the steel Rubicon bumpers.

Thank you. Yeah, it could have been a lot worse. Crash math was around 643,000 ftlbs impact force. There was a security camera video. Basically both trucks stopped instantly on impact.
