Can you take it to another dealer?
If this was my issue, I’d grab a mechanic’s stethoscope and locate the starter and have someone else start it up repeatedly until I found where it’s coming from. The stethoscope is your friend and you could find the source of this in minutes if not seconds.

Not sure if starting it up via remote starter is possible with the hood up though.

This sound isn’t normal and your only option isn’t to just hope it breaks. If you lived in Calgary I’d help you find it.
I might have to try a different dealership ! I just worry about it leaving me stranded out on the trials.

Yeah I would also be so concerned I brrought my perfectly working vehicle in for service without a rental.

I'm so very concerned of a noise.

Why are there so many car hypocondriacs on this forum?
If mine sounded like that. I would be concerned too. And it's under warranty so it goes to the dealer.

You guys still have faith in dealerships properly diagnosing and resolving issues, thats cute.

Unless there is a catastrophic failure with a part you are only wasting your time. If the issue doesnt effect the driving dynamics and its just a noise, forget about the dealership actually solving it.

Just trying to help you guys not waste your precious time.

If plan “A” doesn’t work (dealership actually knowing what they’re doing and looking for and fixing it), there’s the necessary plan “B” (the dealership doing and seeing nothing) but it is at least documented which can be referred to later when all hell brakes loose, after warranty and this fix can be considered a late warranty fix.

I wish you the best of luck having a dealership properly documenting a "noise" during your warranty period which will then lead to them providing support outside your warranty period. Thats a real lottery draw my friend.

Reviving this old thread with the hope that I can figure out what's going on with mine. Were you ever able to find out what was causing this?

My 2023 Ecodiesel Gladiator has started making this exact same sound, but it has 57,000 miles. It also doesn't do it consistently, so it's hard to repeat. The day it did do it was on a hot day and after extended driving, so I suspect heat soak is affecting my starter. I'm going to check it soon once I have time available and see if the bolts are torqued right. I've heard that they can sometimes become loose over time. Even with auto/start stop it's hard for me to beleive the starter is going out only after 57,000 miles and it's hard for me to find anyone here or on reddit about it failing.
