I'm gearing up for recovery equipment install on my soon-arriving Gladiator. I'm making up a small logbook to go in the recovery bag with details, purchase dates, to keep track of number and condition of pulls, etc. Overkill, maybe - but in prepping my old truck for sale, I pulled off the 11-year-old 3/8" Technora line off its winch to possibly use as an extension line (and put the original never-used steel line on for sale) - and realized it's ready for retirement. Took me a while even to dig up the details on that line - age, diameter and type, rating, etc. I want to have all those details written down and in the recovery bag, along with an inspection log, etc etc.
Anyway while doing this, I realized I can't find an actual minimum breaking strength or working load limit rating ANYWHERE on any Warn site for the 3/8" UHMWPE Spydura line that comes installed on my VR EVO 10s. All they'll commit to is that it matches the winch it comes on:
https://www.warn.com/replacement-synthetic-rope-104232
https://www.warn.com/vr-evo-10-s-103253
All the other makers of 3/8" UHMWPE that I've looked at have ratings. Amsteel Blue 3/8" UHMW 17.6k MBS, Tactical Recovery Equipment 3/8" UHMW 20k lbs MBS, Bigfoot 3/8" UHMW 19k lbs MBS, even Harbor Freight rates theirs at 12k lbs WLL.
I'm quite sure that this Warn line is the same stuff, and more than good enough, but where's the rating?
