Ok so the winch mounts to the plate. Curt hitch mounts via welding to the winch plate. Fabricator by trade here. IMO 4mm plate= not thick enough. It's less than 3/16 not by much. Most aftermarket bumpers are made of 3/16 and they get again IMO less (torque, impact, or stress) than that plate could possibly have. Thinking more on that. People pull with another winch from another vehicle directly attached to a bumper. Personally I'd make it out of 3/16 min. Leaning more along the lines of 1/4 in. Gussets 3/16. Yeah it's gonna be heavy. But it's not permanent either. Factor of 5 probably more than that. Hope my rudimentary drawing makes a bit of sense.
