As soon as I hit 4000 miles, my MPG went from a max of 17.5 to a steady 18.6. Anyone else have this happen?
I'm driving the same roads, the same way... maybe the gas blend changed at the pump? I'm ok with this!

Winter blend usually reduces mpgs (slightly), so it can't be that.

I've never been much of a believer in the concept of an engine improving after break-in, but it's the only thing I can think of for this. Mine went from 13.8 for the first 400 miles, to average 15.3 for the next 12,000 miles; but has made a dramatic improvement to 18.2 in the last 2000 miles. I'm currently at 15,000 miles, and hoping the trend continues! Nothing has changed during any of that period. I'm running 35" Geolander MT G003s (34.42 actual measurement at running pressure). Speedometer recalibrated with a Tazer and GPS verified for accuracy. It can't be attributed to tire treadwear, as I've only worn 2/32 off the tread in all of those miles!

I saw the same increase, but I thought it might be a result of the fact that the dealership had just updated the ECU in my truck (which they did when I had my truck in for service last time). I've seen a consistent increase of about 2.5 mpg or so. I love it!

I absolutely attribute it to break in. As the engine matures after the first 3-5k miles you'll notice an increase in mileage, up to about 30k or so. My last few cars have worked like this and it's nice to see. I'm still getting ~22mpg now at 3.5k and I can't wait to see what happens as I get up a little. According to Fuelly it's just over 20mpg but there's 400mi missing and has my offroad trip. I was averaging 1mpg for a while on that hahah. Just added my Fuelly signature.
