FYI. I got in touch with MEK and asked when/if they would be coming out with JT hood protectors. Here is the answer! With the JK one being around $140, I would expect the JT to be the same price range. A lot cheaper than ppf and removable whenever you want.

Getting ready to take a 6 hour drive and thinking I want to be sure I dont get massive road rash on my black hood. Last time I took this ride with my black car the whole hood was full of stone chips. I've looked at all the deflectors and the mopar bras and have decided I dont want a permanent hood deflector. Reviews show debris get stuck in the bras and scratch the paint. Any suggestions? Wondering if there is a film or something I can apply.
I have used black "gardening" or "fencing" mesh... not sure exactly what its called, but I zip tie it in front of my radiators to keep bugs , debris and from being damaged. Seems like you could do the same on the outside as well.... anything would contact it rather than your paint.

You might want to limit how closely you follow behind gravel trucks.
After years of owning/driving jeeps I've developed a 6th sense about gravel trucks. You usually hear the fine grit hitting the windshield first as it's lighter and travels farther and is kicked up by other following vehicles). Won't even follow dually vehicles that can pick up rocks between the tires (been hit by a rock flying from a UPS truck dual wheel setup once). ?

I've used Trakktape when I took a car to the track (would apply the night before and then drive to the track). Held up well and was easily removed with no residue or marks.

I have visited the website but couldn't get what are you reffering to, Is that some kind of Ppf or vinyl wrap tape ?

Its a clear tape meant for temporary protection for up to 2 weeks. It comes in 3, 6 or 10" widths. It is much, much thicker than the typical PPF (I do not know the specific Mil.), is easy to apply and does not leave a tape residue when you remove it. It is not meant to look perfect when applied. It is meant for temporary protection.

Its nothing like long term PPF.

No personal experience, but my searches lead me to this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072B9KRGS/

Per reviews, it works as advertised unless you get caught in a heavy rain or you have ceramic coating on your vehicle. I was looking for a way to keep branch scratches off the sides of the vehicle without going full vinyl wrap, but again haven't had a chance to actually try it yet.
I gave this a try and I have to say it worked great. Rolled I on the hood and window pillars after waxing. Did 3 coats. It dried pretty hard and I had it on for 3 days of a trip where I did about 11 hours of driving. Protected from rocks and bugs. Wet it when I got home and it pealed right off. Great p product!
