Anyone else have tailgate cables that aren’t the same length? One is slack when the tailgate is down.

Some pics would be useful. Helps folks compare the cables and attachments.

There's a bulletin somewhere out their either for Rams or Jeeps. I don't recall which. It has the dealer replace one of the cables.

I have the same exact issue on my 2021.
My 2021 Mojave is like this as well, but only with no load on the tailgate. If I push down on the tailgate, the other side cable tightens up, so it is a very small difference. I'm assuming it is either cable length manufacturing tolerance, tailgate hinge alignment, or a combination of both.

The better question is if the tailgate max load is lower since the tailgate is relying on one cable more than the other… I think it’s an alignment issue as well. Just not sure if it’s worth getting checked out at the dealership.

Month-old 2021 Mojave here with uneven tailgate cables; driver’s side has slack while passenger side is taught. I found this thread while searching for an explanation. Is there in fact a TSB on this? Am I better off time and hassle-wise just buying a $35 OEM cable from Quadratec and replacing whichever cable is the wrong length?

Thanks in advance for your insights

I think you are just seeing manufacturing variations in the cables. You might get lucky and buy 1 cable and have it match your other, but if you want to fix this 'problem', then you may want to buy multiple cables and try to match what you have, then return what you don't use. Just make sure ahead of time that they can be returned.
