Need some advice on the brake light wiring above the tailgate handle.
I finally got the lighted tailgate cover from xt.
Jeep Gladiator Tailgate wiring? IMG_9666

I don’t want it to light with brakes, just be on when the lights are on.

Ive seen a few diagrams, not sure which wires are just power and marker lights vs brake lights.
I just want to use this akind of marker light. I don’t need it to illuminate when brakes are pressed.

I would advise against making your third brake light a parking light. I think you would fail a NYS vehicle inspection for one thing and another of potential liability in case of an accident.

That being said, attached is the wiring diagram for the stop and also parking light system. The CHMSL is a standard two wire power and ground setup with power coming off the body module. To tap into the parking lamp system would mean a wire run from one of the tail lamps into the tailgate.

For reference, below is a thread I did when I put in a strobe controller for the CHMSL but I did not disable or make it a parking light.

I don’t plan to change the brake light. Just needed to know which wires are which so when I add the tailgate panel, that has lights they just stay on all the time the lights are on.
There’s a green-white, a black and I think a solid green wire I can tap.
trying to avoid running a wire all the way to the tail lights.

If you have the trailer harness, I would suggest looking into a Curt T-harness. Then you're not confusing the truck's computer by putting extra load where it doesn't want it.
