I have a factory trailcam already. I have a Tazer Mini on order, and all the docs talk about enabling the cargo camera input as a trail (second) camera. I can't find any reference to doing this as a third camera. I would like to add it as a camera on the back of my travel trailer, so I can see behind me. Does anyone know if this cargo camera input is a third input that I can use? Will the Tazer then just enable that third input rather than a second?

Unfortunately, I cannot really answer your question. I have been looking into adding the trail cam and this is what I have been able to gather so far.

The 8.4" radio has a default HD connection for the rear camera
The 8.4" radio has a default non-hd connection for the cargo cam

The front factory trail cam is HD and uses a separate video processing module before integrating with with radio wiring.

If I were to guess, I would say you already have the video processing module next to the sub-woofer for your HD trail cam, so, the non-HD cargo cam video connection on the back of the radio should be open.... Since you already have the video processing module, you might also be able to get HD for your cargo cam, but, I have no idea how you would do that...

Interesting. Maybe the owner of the company will notice this and knows the answer.

My car doesn’t have a factory trail cam but on the cargo cam I’m using a composite splitter to be able to have multiple sources (trying to add 2 cameras and a Nintendo switch but not done yet)

Where to you plan on installing everything like what you plan to use to switch cameras? I had thought about this but never made it to far.

With the Z automotive cargo camera I have a yellow rca input to the display so I just put a 4 way rca splitter under my wheel that lets me choose the input. Here’s a pic of my switch on it

Nice. Where do you plan on putting additional cameras?
Which RCA splitter did you use?

I added a front camera utilizing the RCA pin cable for the cargo cam. I used the JSCAN app to turn it on. It behaves the same as the backup camera, it will shut down after 10s of driving.
Does the tazer disables this limitation?

Yes, the tazer makes it so U can drive with camera on. It also adds an optional mode to turn on the reverse camera when your turn signal is on.

Has anyone successfully added a third camera using the Cargo Camera route?

It seems as if someone with a trail cam can activate the cargo cam using the taser, then they should have all three icons showing up, and a blue screen (assuming no cargo camera installed) when the cargo cam is selected.

I think that if u do this with the rca splitter method I showed above you should be able to add unlimited cameras

I received the following response from Z Automotive. I’m going this route along with what “Zipper” did with the rca splitter.

Hi there,

Yep, as long as the CargoCam pins 24 and 25 (21 and 22 on a 2020+), then you should be able to add the extra front camera.

Thanks,

Dear Sir or Madam.

Can the front camera be activated as an auxiliary camera if I have the factory trail cam? For example will it work as a cargo cam tat is added in addition to the factory front and rear cameras?
