Hey guys… recently bought a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon that the previous owner had lifted and put 37 inch tires on it and spacers… With fox suspension… It looks great… And I believe he must have used something to calibrate it to get the speedometer to read correct again with the bigger tires/lift and to make it to where the engine doesn’t cut off every time you’re at a stoplight. But I recently had to replace the battery and now the engine is cutting off and starting at stoplights again and I feel like MAYBE my speedometer is saying I’m going faster than I am…

I know I need to order a Tazer…. But my question is: once the speedometer is adjust once should that remain in the vehicle’s ‘memory’ unless you go re-program it? Even after swapping a battery? I’ll probably get a Tazer to make the engine stop cutting off again but I don’t want to accidentally ‘double calibrate’ the speedometer

When a Tazer is removed (unmarried) from the vehicle, it restores all the settings back to the way they were when it was installed.

You can use Jscan or AlfaOBD to make the changes, and they will stay when the OBD device and security cable are disconnected. You will want to get the extension cable sold by Tazer (ZAutomotive) to plug into the security gateway, regardless of the route you go for making the changes.

There are several devices available (Smart Stop/Start) that will connect under the dash and keep ESS from activating.

Look at the Tazer website and see if you want any of the 'Live' features for regular use, before spending the money on one. If you just need to change tire settings and stop ESS, the other options are less expensive.

No, it wasn't shutting off because the batteries were bad. ESS likely wasn't disabled, it just couldn't or wouldn't work because the batteries were bad.
Now you have good batteries, the power on test says the voltage is good so ESS can work again.
Tazer or other devices that stay in place permanently is the only way to disable ess without pressing the button every time you start the truck.
Likely someone had the dealer change the tire size for them, used JSCAN or AlfaOBD to change it - and it will stick that way.
But I'd bet no one disabled ESS - because you can't without a device in place to keep it disabled.
