I had the thermostat housing replaced at 49K / 6 yrs only because I was getting a cooling system flush. Bought the part at a dealership and handed it to my independent mechanic.Anything else I should go ahead and replace or at least look at once that far in?
I bought a thermostat seal with the intent of reinstalling the original thermostat when the replacement fails. Someone chime in if this is a bad idea.
Water pump: Wish I had replaced it as well, but it's pricier than the thermostat housing.
Here's a pic of my failed alternator decoupler pulley, and here's how I replaced the decoupler pulley by following advice from @darkhorse13. I had the alternator replaced (with a reman) while it was still working fine (no belt squeaks or error codes). The oil leaking from the pulley had just started to run dry, which took about 2 weeks. The plan, once again, is to install my repaired original alternator/generator when the replacement fails.
That last post also has a ton of research on alternators/generators and belts & pulleys.
