Where is the play located? Axle or frame side? Frame side should be a solid bushing with the axle side being adjustable. Is the hardware sized correctly? Like, if you drop the frame side and slide the bolt in is there excessive space in the bushing between the bolt and sleeve?
so both the frame and axle side don't move at all its sold its just the bar itself that is moving form the middle if that makes sense

Not really. The frame side bushing is solid. There should be no play in that bushing at all aside from a little flex. Same with the axle side.

If I had to guess the bolts are too small for the bushing sleeve. That's where the play is.

heard back from Teraflex:

"I took a look at those videos and that movement is normal. I also double checked with our engineers and they said that movement is normal and needed to help not bind up on the bushing when needing to flex and move."

If they say its normal i'm good with it!

sounds good. I have not had any driving issues with it aside from some noise over speed bumps so I wasn't too concerned.

On a separate note, if anyone is experiencing bump steer and death wobble ensure the track bar and drag link are exactly parallel, also in line with rear axle. And if you have any adjustable control arms ensure all paired lengths are no more than 1/16in out from the other.

Hey guys! First post for me and came here after searching this topic through google.

I just installed my Teraflex track bar (called and double checked the torque spec they recommend as it seemed very high relative to what the factory torque spec called for), and I'm still getting some "knocking" from the track bar over washboards and smaller square bumps.

Is this normal for this bar? I know the rubber isolated ends allow for some flex and it could be from that. It just doesn't feel proper for it to be knocking like it does.

I've retorqued everything in the front end 3 times now just to validate that everything is good to go.

From what Teraflex has told me this is normal and from others whom I've spoken to its normal ?I've learned to live with the noise now!

See I can’t accept that as an answer especially for a company asking as much as they are for their bar. Mines doing this as well 60 miles after install. Funny thing is that first 60 miles it didn’t make a sound. Why now? The guy that installed my lift and said park it that can’t be that safe. It he believes the hardware is to small thats supplied to actually tighten the sleeve all the way down. I’m pretty irritated that it will be weeks until I hear back.

Movement in the track bar leads to death wobble. Been there, done that.

Even if teraflex is “designed” to be that way, I would not accept a noisy suspension.

I agree pay that much to have a bunch of noise just doesn't make a whole lot o sense...I'm going to go with it for now if i get death wobble its coming off and ill go with a steer smart one!

I had the Rough country one installed on my JKU and it's pretty identical to the Teraflex and never had a issue like that out of mine. Got a buddy running the Rough Country one for the JT and another running steersmarts yeti one for his and they are not getting that kind of movement/ vibration or knocking over bumps with theirs. I know Teraflex is a great company and they know their stuff but I would second guys that. It should not be making any type of noise like that going over bumps or when your tapping it. If your good with it then that's all that matters I guess. Makes my decision on which ones to consider and which one to cross of the list.

**Update

Had the guys at the local 4WP do an alignment today on my Jeep and also had them look at the front bar....they re-installed and re-torqued the bar and now no play whatsoever!

I will get a video up tomorrow but no more noise from the front! Let hope it stays that way!
