You cannot order color match from the dealer, after initial purchase. Its either textured black or primer black. At least that’s what I was told. I bought textured black because I didn’t wanna pay a third party to paint the primer black top and risk not getting it right.
Yes, that was my point…

My Sunset Orange '15 JKUR had the black top/fenders. Loved the color combo, but hated how the fenders faded over time. My Mojito '18 JLUR had color matched top/fenders. I admit, that was a LOT of green, but it was so ugly, I thought it was awesome. I was concerned about rock chips and scratches from off roading, but barely had any. My '20 JTR is color matched too. Really like it with the Billet Silver. There are some colors that only look "right" with the black/top fenders though IMO.

I recently bought a Stingray gray Mojave and my only regret is the black textured top and fenders. I liked it at the dealer but now I want color match. Anyone have any suggestions? BTW, this is my first post and my first Jeep so glad to find this community. Whats up??!!

Welcome to the forum.

The best, and probably cheapest, option is to look for painted take-off top/fenders from a salvage yard, or someone looking to swap out their painted parts for the textured black parts. The 2nd option is rare, but every once in a while you'll come across somebody who wants to change theirs. If you can find a shop that does Jeep conversions/upgrades, a lot of times they'll have factory take-offs from modesl they've worked on. I had a local shop here buy my basic factory hood on my '15 JKUR when I upgraded it to the vented Rubicon hood. Check the usual sites like eBay, etc. Good luck.

This. Try posting up a want to buy add in the sale section. Someone that has a set in storage, but hasn’t gotten around to listing them might chime in.

No offense to anyone who prefers it, but I test drove color matched and while it looked nice, it seemed high maintenance to me. I have black top and fenders and love them.

Rock on if you prefer color matched, glad we have the option.

Color matched comes with ppf already applied, no maintenance needed beyond just the usual wash, soap and dry.

I know I worded that kind of wrong… sorry. I guess color matched seemed higher maintenance for me. I expect to go offroad with it and if I scratch my fenders and they’re just black, no big. If I scratch my fenders and they’re color matched I have to match the color…

Kind of a moot point now since gas is so expensive I’m only using it to get to work and back.

Body colored looks good with some colors. Others it's too much. I actually prefer the black hard top. One less painted surface I have to worry about.

I went black flares and top for 2 reasons: I'm cheap, and less to damage when crawling through some tight brush. After I bought, I became extremely glad I went black top for a 3rd reason: I think matched tops look weird with a sunrider and I fucking love my sunrider.

But at the end of the day it really depends on the aesthetics of the rest of your truck. My gobi has black steel wheels, all black rokblokz, black twill sunrider, and a tonneau. And I'm keeping my black plastic bumpers. So the black top and flares just accentuates the "rough and tumble" look. Ready to do work, not afraid of a little damage.

Black hardtop. Black flares.
The perfect classic combo.

Also I knew I’d be scratching the hell out of my fenders. 2 weeks into ownership they were pitted and scratched from high speed off road runs on gravel roads. The painted fenders would look so much worse than black.

As far as the overall general look. I prefer body colored over the standard black. However, my JT is black in itself and I don't have the body matched top and I don't mind not having it. Now if I had another color JT besides black I'd probably go with a body colored top.

I say that but at the same time, on trails etc (even though I rarely go) It's less worry going under low trees hearing branches scrap the top knowing its not scratching the paint. So there the trade off IMO.

Now fenders is a whole other story. I def have to have painted fenders. No offense to those without, but the plastic fenders look like garbage and cheap. Nothing worse than seeing a badass Rubicon with plastic fenders IMO. Id much rather have my fully loaded Overland in those cases.
