I'm not comfortable with it either, especially without really good and clear instructions.this is a universal WINCH contactor, not just a on /off solenoid which should be reversing with in and out control. I'm not really too comfortable with the wiring diagram.
The scary part is that if that truly reversed - SHORT CIRCUIT - because the winch itself is often grounded via the mount.
In other words, if that were connected to my winch and it flipped the connections, it would fry because my winch body is grounded and any attempt to make that ground cable positive will burn the cables to a crisp.
I'd bet that most winches are grounded via the winch frame - yes, they have the ground cable and that's definitely A ground, but it's not always THE ground.
Did I miss something - is that the control box off the top of the winch? Or is that a separate relay bought to control the winch?
If that's the control off the top of the winch, that could be different but if it's an accessory, i'd want specific wiring diagram with everything totally spelled out.
Like I say - if I remove the ground cable from my winch, interestingly enough, it's still grounded - and if that negative cable from my winch were ever made hot, I'd best have good insurance.
But if that's the control taken off the top of a winch and moved to a different location - I'd still want some things verified.
Fortunately, my Badlands Apex came with very nice instructions on how to relocate the top control box - not that I plan on it at this time, but it's pretty well laid out.
