It may work well, the number are decent, and you've had experience with it -
and this isn't dissing the product or anything against it, but you can tell the ad was written by non-technical Chinese importers with this one line -

2020 NOV. UPGRADE - New golden housing design was adopted | Due to storage reasons, there will still be a small part of the original silver shell products.

LOL - the fact is the company making these sourced that part from someone else, or changed the plating process. It wasn't "adopted", it's a supply change. Yellow zinc vs. clear zinc. They are saying you may still get a silver bracket - due to storage reasons. (translation, we have hundreds of these in storage and haven't gone through the original batch yet)

I just find some of the amazon ads amusing.

But the specs are decent regardless of the bracket color.

Very true, the descriptions are always fun to translate. I used the Warn relay on another winch install and it burnt out after a few times using it. And that was with a 8K winch(wench).

Am I right in thinking it doesn't take much to trigger the solenoid to power the wench? One of the lowest rated series from the accessory switch harness will do the job?

Lots of posts on this site, plenty of time spent searching and reading, as this is my first wench, I'm hoping for some guidance on the install, if you folks would be so kind.

All the major wenching is done, Rugged Ridge Venator Bumper installed, with a 12 K Quadratec Wench.

Now the fun part, wiring the wench.

I like the idea of isolating the hot lead on the front end, Justin Case.

Here's my plan, with queries, and your guidance would be appreciated.

Ground lead, to frame, or battery?

Thinking about using a simple three terminal FOMOCO Starter Solenoid. Stout enough for the application?

Solenoid to be activated, by one of the switches on the accessory panel, any suggestions on which would best, or will minimal be sufficient?

This site has helped me so much with this Gladiator purchase and present mods so much, I trust your judgement, especially when it comes to wenches.

I had a tough time with what solenoid or power disconnect to use also. Ultimately I went with the Warn power interrupt kit Warn #W62132. As has been mentioned I question that this solenoid will hold up to the amp draw from the winch. However, if the solenoid should fail during use the power cable is easily moved direct to the battery. This gives me some comfort that no power is going to the winch 99.9 percent of the time. I went with the Smittybilt winch. If I were to do it over I would have gone a Warn winch. The Smittybilt has worked fine the few times I have used it. The solenoid trigger wire is connected to a 15 amp circuit at my Voswitch aux switch panel. The photos are of my winch connection at the battery and Warn power interrupt solenoid installation.

Chewed on the manual switch for quite some time. Simple, not prone to failure. I was considering an exterior mount, perhaps an inside fender location. Too, I commend you on a clean wench installation. I know some may find it silly and superfluous, but a clean wench is important to me. It ain't the Middle Ages anymore.

Great point about the amperage need of a wench, too late I have the Q, but I have seen the Warn solenoid, which may be worth some research. My thanks! This is why I respect your guys opines when it comes to wenches.
