THEFT DETERRENCE

JUST PURCHASED A 2020 GLADIATOR AND JOINED THIS FORUM. THINKING OF WIRING IN A HIDDEN TOGGLE BETWEEN THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH AND THE STARTER SOLENOID AS REDUNDANT SECURITY. HAVE DONE THIS WITH OLDER MODELS PRE-ELECTRONIC IGNITION, COMPUTERS, ETC.. IS THIS LIKELY TO CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ONBOARD COMPUTERS, ETC. ??

shouldn't be an issue, just interrupt the starter wire from the ignition button. it's a temporary hot wire, it isn't like you're cutting a constant.

The Starter button doesn't directly activate the starter. It's a wakeup notice to the computer that controls the starter. I don't see any real benefit from trying to do this. The truck comes with an alarm system, and it won't start and drive unless the key FOB is inside the cab.

really big dogs like a mastiff are a good theft deterrence, unless you get one like mine and you have to wake it up first before it does anything,
