I have always had a topper on my trucks, except for the scrambler, but dont think I want a semi permanent topper on the Gladiator, It appears there are two options the soft topper or the Bestop version. Anyone have any experience with either of them? are there others to consider?

Thanks

They seem cool but, IMO, id save the money and wait for an after market soft top.

A LOT of members have talked about how they love them and, if memory serves, most preferred the premium fabric.

Bestop has not released theirs yet. It's the softopper they're promoting at the moment. Rumor is their version will be their next release. Its supposed to be much better quality and in my opinion, a much better fit.

Well if Bestops will be higher quality I guess I'm back to square one. I've not been impressed by their products over the past few years. Seems to have slipped quite a bit while the cost has risen significantly.

Thanks!

I've had a softopper on my 04 Titan from 06 to present and no problems. Have one now on my Gladiator and super happy with it. Like to be able to just lower it when needed to load my ebikes or motorcycles. Way back when had a regular hard shell on my Dodge and was a pain to remove to load up tall items. Highly recommend them.

The Softopper is about as high a quality as you can get. The fit is phenomenal. I’m not sure exactly what you’re talking about. The Bestop has been out on other vehicles such as the Tacoma, Colorado and Ranger for a while. It looks pretty ugly and isn’t nearly as popular. The only advantage the Bestop version will have is it will be the same material as the premium softop on the JT

The premium fabric is a very substantial improvement, for what it’s worth. Doesn’t fade, and doesn’t loosen nearly as quickly as lighter weight fabrics.

I had one problem with my Softopper. When it became cold enough, around 20 degrees, my rear window cracked and broke to pieces. Since there is no other way to access the truck bed, you have to lift the rear window at least a little bit and then it may or will, as mine did, break. Otherwise, I liked it but wished it wasn’t so attached to the truck at both the front and rear of the bed.
It seems like Bestop has made a better design and their plastic windows seem more pliable in cold weather extremes.

Sounds like Bestop should go ahead and put their windows in the Softopper if this is the case.
