I just upgraded to bfg ko2 315/70/17 on my gladiator sport. The guys who installed my tires wanted me to run 50psi, this seems crazy high as my stock factory tires were only 35psi... is this normal? I feel like they’re over pressure but I also know nothing about tires other than what I’ve read... thoughts are appreciated!

Tire Dealers do that for Load Carrying Capacity Liability. I never run Max PSI. My Nitto's say Max PSI of 60 lbs. I run 35 in the winter and 32 in the summer ( When they heat up they will get to 35)

The sticker in the door jamb of any vehicle shows the recommended pressure for the vehicle on stock tires. Larger tires require even LESS pressure typically ...

That being said, for a Mojave(in my case)with 33's the recommended is 37PSI ... For 35 inch tires it would be even lower ...

Those guys are likely looking at the sidewall max pressure .. Which is amazing to me if they are "tire guys" as that would typically mean that they have no idea what they are doing ...

Tire pressure is a function of the weight of a vehicle ... You would add pressure if carrying a heavy load ... But empty with just a driver in a vehicle as heavy as a JT, 50PSI is totally wrong and will give you a crap ride and the tires will likely wear unpredictability .

What everyone else said. That’s too much unless you’re towing a lot.

Im 32 cold, year round here in TX with 35x12.5R17 on stock rims.
