Like my dad tried to tell me years ago (in my teens - I’m 51), “The wider the tire, the more slippery surface you’re on.”
This includes rain covered and dry roads too.
I used to think wide tires were cool, but now I will not even consider anything beyond my mentions below. I am not rolling in deep sand/offroad snow or bottomless watery mud holes, as mentioned in the TrailBuilt OffRoad video I shared and when flotation is required.
I roll 10.5” wide tires on 8.5” wide wheels in the warmer months and 10” wide tires on 7.5” wide wheels in the winter. Michigan.
I would have stuck to the 10” wide tires year round, but were backordered at the time and I am impatient AF.
Yes, 3 different stores (2 Belle Tire and 1 Jeep specialty shop) said they absolutely would mount 10” wide tires on 8.5” wide wheels.
Function over fashion and I absolutely love the way my Jeep drives/handles with either set of tires on.
