Neat video. I went wheeling with a Rivian. Did perfectly fine. I'm looking forward to replacing my gladiator one day with an electric truck, but the towing range is still atrocious.
And our drive between Albuquerque and San Diego (family visits) would take 2 days or more, while in our PHEV it's 12 hours. There will have to be many, many more charging stations and faster charging before I get there.

I was down in Moab and met a Rivian owner out of California at the hotel. I asked how the trip was, kind of setting them up to talk about their new car. I was surprised when they said "Awful".

Apparently to get out to some of the things they want to see, they were having to detour past the turnoff to go get more charge, then double back and go see the thing (where there's no charging) then double back again to the charger to top up again. The owner said it had so far added 3 days to their trip compared to an ICE vehicle.

People back east just don't understand how remote things can get out here.

EVs aren't for everyone, but I haven't driven longer than 4 hours in my life except for maybe once. When solid state batteries hit the market, with 4-500 mile ranges, this gladiator is gone baby gone.

Well, the ICE Gladiators maybe, but an EV Gladiator would work. In 2025 the PHEV Gladiators arrive. We'll see how they do.
