How does the 4WD work? I don't even know what to call it...

We call it 'gearing' and '4lo' ........... Do they have a button to push that'll put them in a 4lo equivalent?
or some other button?

Impressed she had the tits to go offroad with that thing. No Thanks...I'd rather have a Jeep!

What’s work?
That is impressive, really is. I like that the last bit there navigating the rocks, that handled it very well, but all of it was impressive. I got the sense just watching, truck didn’t seem to care or particularly struggle, almost like it was thinking “this all you got?”. Great share man, Love it.

On a side note would love to print a screen shot of her in those rocks and tape it to the waxed driveway art around here, just to make a point….

Unlike the 3.6L that needs 2k+ rpms to make any torque and 4500+ to make any horsepower, electric motors make nearly peak torque from 0rpm to 100krpm. They don't need gearing. Add in the fact that it makes 5x the torque of the pentastar and has finite throttle control and it could be the perfect crawling platform. Paired with solid axles and some real articulation and electric power would make ICE look silly off road.

Neat video. I went wheeling with a Rivian. Did perfectly fine. I'm looking forward to replacing my gladiator one day with an electric truck, but the towing range is still atrocious.

its not that cut and dry.
I have a CT and obviously a JT.
there’s absolutely zero chance id take the door wedge out wheeling. The air system is not great its not driving. Its steering and the vehicle is figuring it out.

good for novices in certain situations but theres zero chance id keep my cybertruck if I was forced to pick and keep one

electric drive as a concept is outstanding but we are definitely not there yet for people that actually drive off road

Like I said, the problem with the cybertruck and the rivian is suspension. Both are 4 wheel independent with air ride. Both can claim these great ground clearance numbers as a result, but it's nearly useless off road. To get that great clearance it fully inflates the bags leaving the vehicle with almost no downtravel and a super stiff ride, nether of which does anyone want off road. The drive is great, the suspension is the opposite. Produce something like the magneto 2.0 or 3.0 concept vehicles and it would destroy the JL crawling.

It has a "mode button" for rocks. The lockers are automatic or manual. We found the auto lockers let it slip and shudder several times before engaging- so the manual engagement of lockers worked much better for her.
She told them when she bought it- she would test it. Raised in a Jeep family- she knows what we expect a truck to do. The air ride was weird for them- cork in a bathtub type deal. She wants handles inside... to keep from bouncing her head against the trim, she lost 4 plastic pieces of decorative trim on the outside.
