Trail Cam with Matte Black Grill

I’m wondering if anyone out there has put the factory trail cam on a matte black grill. I wanted to order my truck with the black grill, but apparently the trail cam isn’t compatible...I’m guessing the inserts are different. Has anyone successfully transferred the trail cam onto a black grill?

Well, I’ll already have the camera installed, it’s just that I want to change the color matched grill to the black grill and keep the camera. I think there is something different about the inserts on the black grill that precludes the camera from being offered with the black grill. I’m hoping it’s as simple as pulling the camera and insert from the color matched grill and putting it on the black grill....

There’s no reason they wouldn’t be compatible. The inserts are the same as the painted grille, it’s the same part, just in matte black.

I’m planning on putting a Matt black grill on my silver JT with the stock trail camera, and I believe it’s a pretty simple job, you just swap out the center grill pieces, there our some really good videos on you tube.

I know this is a very old post but I'm about to do the same with the grill. Just waiting for it to arrive. Is there just one insert you moved what had the trail cam attached or do you have to move all? Also, any tips on removal so as to not damage anything?
