Well that means theres another transfer case in there somewhere. The two ways this gets done without a double pinion axle is either you mount an inverted transfer case to the input of the axle 1 and go "over the shoulder" with a shaft to axle 2 or you have a box made up with twin output with one shaft to axle 1 and one to axle 2.
The over the shoulder design limits the shenanigans but it requires some big chunky engineering to avoid "problems". The twin shaft design is a lot more just get it done and is good if you have limited suspension travel, like you'd have on BIG trucks. I prefer the over the shoulder for packaging reasons but ultimately a through the pumpkin double pinion like a rockwell is "best'ish" for packaging and limiting the number of parts and complexity.
Dodge got it very right back in the day so these designs shouldn't be a crap shoot. If you are a handy dude you should be able to clone this system all day long.

Not for nothing but Dodge nailed the look too. Not stupid long or stupid tall, this was meant to be a tow rig to get your toys to the playground. I'd much rather haul my yacht with this than a janky jacked up gladiator.
