Virginia Highlands Trip for Fall Colors 2022

No difficult trails at all. Never left 2WD and that's fine with us.
This trip was about taking our time and seeing the beauty of our state.

All locations are near New Castle, VA near or in the Jefferson National Forest

Broad Run Road is a nice trail through the wooded valley between two mountains.
There are numerous water crossings. Nothing too deep.

At the base of Bald Mountain there's a little day use area, a short little waking trail to a hidden gem of a waterfall in the woods. Fenwick Mines Waterfall.

Bald Mountain is an easy drive to the summit, where the views are quite nice.

Back home we have a few more days to go until peak color

And the mast crop this year is insane!

Nice pics.

We took a ride through the Laurel Mountains yesterday. Around Ohio Pyle. Not peak colors yet. Maybe next weekend.
