We are an American family of 3 driving around the world in a Jeep Gladiator we call DAUNTLESS.

(Original post title and this post edited to reflect our current journey)

We have been traveling full-time (owning no home or property) since February 2014, and our son Caspian joined the mix in December 2016. He's been a full-time traveler since birth.

This is my first post in the Jeep Gladiator forums, though I've been reading a ton of posts here for what feels like years.

On May 31, 2021 we picked up our stock Jeep Gladiator Sport S (with Max Tow) and on July 21, 2021 45 days later the rig was "finished" and I put that in quotes because you know what I mean.

On October 9, 2021 we started our global overland journey. I will update this thread with videos from our journey and I'm available to answer questions. I check this thread regularly.

Meet our Gladiator DAUNTLESS:

Jeep-Gladiator-Overland-Build-Suspension.png

We did an entire build series on YouTube if anyone is really that interested. You can find the build series here.

The general plan is Mexico, Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and finally Australia. We anticipate the journey will take 10-15 years.

Here is the first video in our global journey. It was from the day we crossed into Mexico and subsequent travel days:

Crossing The Border Into Mexico

If you'd like to get to know us, you can find us on all the socials at HourlessLife.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope to get to know some folks here.

There are two parts to our snorkel assembly. The AEV snorkel for the JT and the Sy-Klone pre-filter. You can pick both up directly from AEV. ~ Eric

We've had some Jeep Gladiator suspension issues here in Central America. We also lost our awning in a tornado in Honduras. So it was time to take DAUNTLESS to the shop.

It is a long drive around the world, and things are bound to creep up from time to time.

Had a lot of fun with this video of how we tackled these issues which you can see here:

Glad the suspension was a relatively easy fix. One thing I'm curious about, since our rigs are built very similarly — do you have or have you considered purchasing a Mopar Extended Warranty? I've been looking into one, but there are a couple red flags in the eligibility section that seem open to a lot of subjectivity on the dealer's part. My gut says it's probably a waste of money and that coverages would be denied based on the canopy camper alone.

Just a FYI, most vehicle manufacturer "extended warranties" past the base warranties are actually worded as extended service contracts and not an actual extension of the base warranty.

That is why they can have language that any mods can be grounds for denial of service and have no legal protection like the base warranties do under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act

Thanks for your response. Are you implying that the consumer has no legal protection with the Mopar vehicle protection plans?

Not a lawyer.

That being said, it would fall under basic contract law. Basically what they say they will do in the contract is what they can be held to legally in a civil suit in state court probably follow a Uniform Commercial Code standard.

These extend service plans or "Vehicle Protection Plan" as FCA calls it,. are marketed in a way that lets many if not most consumer think they are just a one for one extension of their basic factory warranty but they are a different animal all together. In the basic upfront manufacturers warranty, there is Federal law that gives the consumer certain rights that vehicle manufacturers cannot (legally) deny warranty just for the simple fact of using non OEM parts, fluids and modifications unless it can be proven by them that said things actually caused the defect condition.

These "extended warranties" (service contract) fall outside the requirements of the Federal MMWA since they are truly not a warranty but a service contract that say in simple terms "we will do this, if this is presented". But they have the right to have this pitfall triggers of denial language in the contract that they would not be able to have in their basic warranty language.

Wrangler and Gladiator are probably one the most risk averse vehicles to have one of these extend service plans on because of the aforementioned language on modifications. Even with the basic vehicle warranty, 95% of it is going to revolve around your particular servicing dealership and any relationship you have with them on whether you have a problem or not.

I would also leave one other bit of information. These extended plans are only valid the nano second you are out of the actual factory basic warranty. So if in the event you have a failure that is not covered by either the 3/36 bumper to bumper or the 5/60 Powertrain and you are still within those limits, the extended plan will not cover that failure until you are out of those limits.

A full walk-around tour of our global overlanding vehicle.

We waited for a year of hard use to provide this tour so that we could share how all of this equipment has held up. Really hope you enjoy this tour. I also talk about the philosophy behind our build for driving all around the world.

Happy to field any questions. ~ Eric

Jeep Gladiator We are driving around the world in our Jeep Gladiator we call DAUNTLESS IMG_6361

Can't believe it is almost time to ship our Jeep to South America!

Today was day 2 of getting DAUNTLESS ready for the container shipping from Panama to Colombia.

Rainy season through Central America was no joke. We removed everything from inside the rig cleaned out all of the floors, cabinets and compartments. Did a complete inventory and put it all back.

We got rid of about a half trash bags worth of great gear and equipment to give away to other overlanders that we haven't used in the past year since we left the USA.
It took us two days to get the job fully done. But we're feeling good about it. The next stage of our overland journey around the world is South America and we think it is going to take us 2-3 years to complete that continent.

Many of you have asked me for a walk around tour of our Jeep. We released a video which I'll link here for those that want to see it. Fair warning it is a 40 minute full walk around of everything we've done to our rig for this global journey. I take you around the exterior and talk about the philosophy of our build, then my wife takes you through the interior. Hope it is helpful to anyone interested in our rig. Here is the link to that walk around: https://youtu.be/ZF41rFJBOt0

Happy to field questions. ~ Eric
