Weekend Moab Trip

All settled in for the night. Arrived around 8 so right on track. Campground is indeed empty though their system "optimizer" put pretty much everyone in the same area. (I definitely didn't almost forget to bring my receiver skid either.)

Hell's Gate is probably out of the equation this trip. I'm kinda considering this an exploratory trip for future ones though I'll be scouting some obstacles and maybe take a stab. Definitely the benefit of living 3 hours area. Being stereotypical with Fins and Hell's Revenge. I'll make sure to get some pictures.

Woke up late as that was the plan after a long week. Finally got on to Fins just before 1PM and took just under three hours including quite a few stops. Receiver skid came in clutch as expected along with some other grinds. Overall had a great time with amazing weather. Next up Hell's Revenge tomorrow and maybe another trail depending on the time.

Back home after a "short" three hour drive. Hell's Revenge went pretty good. Honestly the actual exit (the one that drops you closer to town) had some of the most technical stuff. Did a few of the optional obstacles with no struggle. Almost had a lapse in judgement and almost did Hell's Gate but the entrance scared me off. The actual obstacle looks way better in person. Bunch of us stared at it and then finally a SxS sent it but we all thought better of it. Next time I'll probably do it. Here are some pictures:

We almost saw a SxS biff it on Escalator as well, luckily he recovered.

That descent into hells gate is definitely harder than the obstacle, in my opinion anyway.

I came to the exact same conclusion.

Also the ambassador out there said a UTV rolled yesterday. Didn't really play a factor but interesting non the less.

Gladiators would be near impossible to roll on that descent or the actual gate. The long wheelbase is king there. I saw a close call a few years ago with a manual tj though. It was scary. He lost the gear and slid backwards 30’ or so. He got it done the second time around though.

Yep, I was definitely the most capable vehicle there for sure to do it. Everyone there agreed, toiled around for a while till I saw the entrance.

The entrance is no joke. I wasn’t ready for escalator the first time I did that trail. I would have done it in February when we were there last, but it was terrible weather. We made it to the gate, did it a few times, and hustled back to the parking lot. Aired up while it was hailing.
