I got the JT late last fall and got snow tires mounted right before the first snowfall. As I got off from a stop sign on a slight slope the truck was fishtailing like no tomorrow on 2H. I had to switch to 4H to get traction.
The very next day I got 4x 60lb sand bags above the axle. Didn't have any more problem on 2H at the same location again.
4H is good but we got a lot of dry pavements in between snowy stretches. And personally I'd rather not deal with constant switching and possible binding issues if I don't have to.
My wife drives my JT from time to time as well. I taught her how to switch between 2H and 4H, and cautioned her about binding on dry pavements. But then having more traction on 2H would probably be better than her managing 4H/2H. So I guess the sandbags worked for us.
